Thinner cleat suited for light duty.
This cleat is as described. It is an 8" cleat but it is thinner. I suspected it was and ordered it because that's what I wanted. Needs 1/4" hardware to secure it. Not real beefy but I'm using it to secure a small line to it with a lighter load. Would not use it in heavier water conditions with a 20 ft boat for example. Much better suited for lighter boats in calm water. 1/4 inch hardware can only do so much. Enclosed a picture so you can see the relative size. Probably best suited for 1/4 ", 3/8" line at most. Finish is nice, should be easy on the lines.

Nice Item
I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the cleat was not as pictured. I.e. the photos showed a hole between the posts. Mine came with a solid base. Would have been nice but this suits my needs. The cleat is solid aluminum, very hard aluminum with a brush finish. Looks nice on my aluminum boat. Should last a lifetime. I have semi V aluminum boat and mounted to the bow and corner braces. The surface I needed to mount too was slightly curved so I hogged out the base with a curved file, only took 15 or 20 minutes by hand, fit perfectly. Happy with the item...

let the buyer beware... this cleat functions only one way ...( if you use a decent line thickness)
I am a experienced boat captain and I find this cleat really kinda pathetic. why, ... for the 8 inch size of the cleat I ordered one would expect a lot more heft to it , but the truth is its poorly designed. A boat or dock cleat functions in two ways, One is running a over turned figure of eight on the cleat with a single end line.... of this this cleat would be ok its light and elegant. However of you use the OTHER way a cleat is designed: to thread a braided loop though the middle below the cleat and then over each "ear" of the cleat you barely can in this cleat. The aperture ( hole) is so small you have to use a very weak line indeed . Just a design flaw. I will return these and buy cleats that can function either way.I also noticed the picture does not match the cleat its as the apeture is gone.. and is solidpictures and follow yet to come

Nice
The 6-in. cleats I got are quite nice - smooth castings, light weight, and closed base. Just right for 1/2 or smaller rope, and just right for my 12-ft. rowboat. Nicer than I had expected.

Just what the dock-ter ordered!
Just what the dock-ter ordered! :) These are very nice aluminum castings and look like they will do the job very well. Nice smooth finish and they do have the hole between the legs to allow lines to pass through for easier tie-offs. I would buy them again and probably will.

A cleat that works like a cleat.
I gave it four stars because it isn't made in America. Otherwise, this is a perfectly good cleat. Tie a cleat hitch on it, and it works.

It's a cleat...what else can I say?
I haven't mounted it yet but it looks pretty well made.

Not as Pictured!
I received my order today and they do not look at all like they did in the picture. The ones I received are solid aluminum while the ones I ordered had a hole at the bottom ( which is what I needed).
