Duratrax DTXP3100 Flashpoint Infrared Temperature Gauge

WOw, this thing is slick. What an easy tool to use. Comes with the battery already installed. Just open the package, point at the area you want to read and push. reads immediately. And, it is accurate to what I would say is within 5-10 degrees F. If you want a cheap quick tool to read temperature, this is your ticket. I bought this specifically to check various points in an autmotive cooling system. I checked it against the stock temp sensor and a brand new radiator cap temp gauge. It was within 5 degrees of the stock sending unit and right on when compared to the new cap guage. With it I was able to identify that the fluid in the bottom of the radiator was about 18 degrees hotter than the top of the radiator, that the block was 20 degrees hotter than the radiator, and that the hottest point in the system was at the head next to the sending unit. I will also use this to test my electric and nitro RC motors. Fits in your pocket and easy as pie to use. Only gripe for me is it looks like it could have been ruggedized a little better. Might not take much abuse. Other than that, its perfect.

I have one of the larger, gun-style infrared thermometers that people use for HVAC duct temp readings, etc. I like it, but it's rather bulky. When I got into RC off-road cars as a hobby, I wanted a small unit that I could carry around in my RC Field Kit. This one works great. I can poke it up under the Lexan body of my RC to read them temperature on the motor and ESC. From comparing it to my larger, gun-style infrared thermometer, I get consistent accuracy between them. It may be totally accurate. I don't know for sure, but for my purpose 100th or 10th place accuracy is not important. What I need is consistency. I get that with this temp guage and I am very happy with it.

I have been using those for decades. My last one was bought 15-17 years ago, during my rc days.Then it was used in plumbing business, and did just fine. Then about a month ago it was stolen, along with my backpack.I was happy and surprised that I was able to get the same thing at such a low price.I hope this one lasts as long.

Thanks Amazon for another simple product. Besides mine coming with a dead battery it works fairly simple. I can say that it's very easy to use. I use it with my Traxxas Spartan and Slash 4x4 Ultimate. I thinks its a fairly accurate device for around $20 price point. It's a simple and easy to use product. I would recommend this very highly if you need a cheap and quick solution!

I use this for aquarium water changes to match temps AND for checking the temp of the electrical components of my RC aircraft.The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star is that the case could be a little better sealed against moisture.

Temp gauge works well, but you will need to be with in one inch of object to get good reading. If you start getting weird readings, it’s time to replace battery. Great tool for the RC hobbyist

This was recommended by an instructor of mine and I am so glad I rooted for this gage instead of a less expensive pistol grip style. Really a handy gadget when working with encaustic mediums.

Bought it to track engine heat on my nitro rc for the ramp up! Works well and fast! Recommended.
