Excellent family book!
Read this and the first Brucko book aloud to my family...age range from my 40 years young hubby to my 2year old...also children ages 11,8,6, and 4. The youngest enjoyed the time together and picked up on some things and would talk about them and my olders and hubby really enjoyed this book...my 9 year old usually is not a book lover but she and my 11 year old always looked forward to reading this! Great book to read and talk over with kids and see God’s miraculous hand!

Love it!
I had to read the first Bruchko book as a school requirement and I liked so much that I got the sequel; this book. I really liked reading this book but there was a great deal of repetition from the first book. Generally, I liked the first book better but I still enjoyed this one too. Both books have encouraged me and my faith.

I found you have joy even in the midst of great hardship when you ...
Compelling, fast moving, inspiring, motivational, touching, and convictingThe very moving true story of a dedicated, caring missionary. It clearly depicts Phil 2:13 (God is effectively at work within you both to will and to perform His purposes). As with Bruchiko, I found you have joy even in the midst of great hardship when you are in the center of God's will.

One of My Favorite Books of All Time
Bruce Olson is a modern legend. If you are looking for a great autobiography and missionary story, this is it. I read a lot and there are very few books that I give a 5-star rating. This is one of my favorite books of all time. It will change your life. I think this man has had a great impact on the Motilone Indians in South America. Bruce, an American, has lived in the jungles of of Columbia and Venezuela for most of his life, giving up all the creature comforts of modern day culture. His story is remarkable.I recommend reading the first Bruchko book first, which tells about his early life and how he got to the jungle. This book gives a review of the first book in the first few chapters, and then picks up where the last one left off.You will not regret buying this book. It also makes a great gift.High school students and college students will also enjoy it, as well as those bound for seminary or the mission field.I guarantee you they will make a movie about this man one day. You simply can not make this stuff up.

Very powerful reading of faith and courage
Bruce Olson is an inspiration and a hero of anyone who has any desire or interest towards mission. I do and what he accomplished over his 40 years is beyond amazing!

A Visit With an Old Friend
The original Bruchko book is one of my favorite books of all time. So when I heard he had written a second book which updated his story into the present day, I purchased it quickly. It was like getting reacquainted with an old friend. You see Bruchko grappling with the losses of Gloria and Bobarishora. You see his spirit rekindled after hearing a couple of the younger Motilones speaking at a peace conference. You feel his joy as the nation of Columbia recognizes that 420 acres of jungle land belong to the Motilone people (truly known as the Bari people). The first 36 pages rehash the first Bruchko book, while the rest of the volume brings the story into the present day (with occasional looks back into the past). You get to read the details of Bruce's entanglements with terrorist groups and drug dealers. You get his first person account of his brutal 1988 abduction by the ENF and his mixed feelings about the current direction the Motilones are taking. You get the sense that the younger Motilones want to modernize more and to forego some of the tribal traditions that Bruce has been trying hardf to safeguard. Yet Bruce is confident in the Lord that God will continue to raise up Motilones who walk in our Lord's trail. If you love the first book, you'll definitely want this one, too. But this is also a good place to start even if you have never heard of Bruchko.

A fascinating true story
This is a sequel of the first Bruce Olson's book and continues the story in the Colombian jungles up to the 2004 year. The first 20% of the book is a summary of the first book (mid-1950s up to 1972 when Bobby has been murdered by land settlers). If you've just read the first book and immediately begin the sequel you may start with chapter 3. However, there are some slight dissimilarities and the first two chapters worth reading. Both books reveal a truly fascinating story of adventures and miracles, almost on every page (especially in the first book). At one moment I though that this sounds like a fiction novel and I searched something about the Bari Indians. I found some interesting Bari sites and read an oil worker witness about their encounter with the then hostile Bari in 1958 that confirm the truthfulness of Bruce Olson's books. I recommend his books to anyone loving true stories.I have found some interesting additional info that lacks in these books in the Charisma magazine's summary of Olson life named "The Jungle Is Still His Home" (June 2007).However, I took one star of this book because the publisher have decided to put quotes extracted from the main text almost on every second or third page. Quotes are in a very big font (2-3 times bigger than the main text font on Kindle). This is really distracting as reader have to skip 1/2 to 2/3 of those pages to continue reading the main text.Author plans to write another book as we can read at the end of this one. This is great news. I look forward to reading it. What I would be glad to find in it which lacks in the existing two is:1. A photograph of the alphabet that Bruce Olson has taught Bari in schools? Is it Latin or some new alphabet?2. Some excerpt of the Bari New Testament.3. What happened to the Bari that live in Venezuela?

Bought this book 4 times.
This book is so good I've purchased it 4 times over the years. I've given it away each time and it has become a favorite to everyone who reads it. Read it the first time about 10 years ago when it had a different cover. Couldn't put it down. My husband read it and he couldn't put it down. I felt like I was right there with Bruce. Great book for anyone with a heart for souls.

This is a sequel
This book is a sequel to the one I thought I was buying having been misled by the earlier reviewers who are describing the original autobiography which is a much older book just called "Bruchko" (and I agree is an astounding story). Confusing, eh? Don't bother reading this before reading the original autobiography; it's not a patch on it.

A "once in a lifetime" book
This book is a must read for all Christians. I first heard of this book in my early teens when my English teacher would read the class a small portion before our studies began. Almost three decades later, I have read the book for myself and remembered why I loved it so much. It is challenging on so many levels and depicts a man who is completely obedient to the Lord's call and is led by the Holy Spirit to bring the gospel to a remote tribe in the Amazon jungle. But its not a white-Western gospel, but a gospel where Jesus walks the Motilone trails and speaks their language.

Amazing story.
"Bruchko And The Motilone Miracle" by Bruce Olson ...I loved this book. I do not know where I have been all these years and missed out on reading this amazing story of persistence in the face of grave difficulties. It is like reading an up dated version of the book of Acts. Every prospective missionary needs to read this book

Probably near the top of best crosscultural ministry efforts by modern missionaries
A much needed follow up of Bruce Olson's first book. Probably near the top of best crosscultural ministry efforts by modern missionaries.
