Buy these
Excellent speakers! I haven't had a chance to try these at full volume yet, but they are exceptionally clear and crisp at the (loud) medium levels. It's great to have a built-in 3 channel mixer (1x XLR/Microphone, 1x 1/4 TRS, and 1x RCA [stereo pair]) for cases where simple setup is needed. These speakers don't sound too different from the DXR8, but I was sold because these offer a beveled edge which allows them to be used as stage monitors (the DXR8 doesn't have this). The official Yamaha bags for these do not have shoulder straps (whereas the DXR8 bag does), so that's something to consider if you want the "whole package."Bass response is definitely good for speakers of this size, but most of the low-end bass that you "feel" is lacking. I purchased a Yamaha DXS12 subwoofer to pair with these speakers and increase the amount of low frequency my system can put out. These speakers have a nice weight to them (not too light, not too heavy) and include dual pole mount receptacles to allow either straight or slightly down-angled sound projection. The built-in processing and high pass filter(s) eliminate the need for an external crossover.I wish these speakers came with Powercon connectors instead of the standard IECs. Even though the supplied IEC power cables are of good quality, I'm debating purchasing locking IECs just to ensure that the plugs don't fall out of the speakers while in use. Due to the beveling on the back of the speakers (and close to the IEC power input jack), it's not really possible to use a right-angle IEC plug.Excellent speakers, highly recommended!

Clear, deep, round, loud without distorting
When i was shopping around for new speakers for DJing, I tested a few brands.I had 1 EV ZLX 12P around that i liked but realized it would hit the limiter fairly easily if pushed moderately. I did alot of reading and people said QSC was the best for DJ applications, but when I heard them in store they felt tinny and too trebly to me. I had a similar experience when djing through a qsc speaker once at a gig where i didnt have my own setup there.I was told to try the Yamaha DXR line by a friend and also off some posts in dj forums and I am so glad I took the advice.DXR 12s not only sounded fuller, rounder, and overall just better to my ears than the QSCs, they are also cheaper, have a longer warranty (7 years), and can get so loud I've never tested their full capability. They definitely don't limit easily like the zlx 12p.Even at very loud volumes, I have yet to hear these distort.

Works great with my KPA!
I purchased the Yamaha DXR10 to use as a powered monitor for my Kemper Profiling Amplifier sight unseen based on the universal rave reviews from other KPA users. They were right and I was not disappointed. The DXR10 reproduces exactly what you send to it clearly without coloration and it can get LOUD. I am very pleased with this powered speaker. Yamaha makes outstanding products. Why the sticker on the DXR10 (and the Amazon ad copy) proclaims that it is 1100 watts when it is actually 700 watts. The DXR12 is 1100 watts. Despite that small discrepancy I can overwhelmingly recommend this item.Edit 05/18/19: I ordered a second DXR10 to use in stereo. It's an amazing product. I am very pleased with the DXR10. I deducted one star because Amazon just delivered the second unit to the wrong house.

I love and respect these speakers
I just built a bar in my basement and wanted to add sound without running wires and buying other equipment so I ordered this DXR8. The way I use the DXR8 is with a cable attached to my Iphone/Ipad/Imac directly to the DXR8. That's it and I get music. At first glance, you would think that you woundn't get that much sound but boy let me tell you, these babies pack a punch!!!They are loud enough for me. I listen to a variety of music from spanish to techno, to hardcore trance, rock, hip hop, etc. The fidelity of the sound is important to me but so is the aesthetics. I hate running wires and with this speaker that wasn't an issue. What's more, I use this speaker for karaoke sessions because you are able to add a mic. That's a bonus. The price is a bit high I admit, but how much would I have had spent had I taken the route of buying a Denon receiver, and a set of good speakers? So I feel like this was a good buy for me and my new bar.

DXR15 makes a great drum monitor!
Yes, the DXR15 is a plastic DJ speaker with a slightly scooped midrange. No I don't recommend them as a main PA speaker as the vocals would suffer, but wow, do they work great as a drum monitor! The 15 has enough oomph at 60Hz without a subwoofer under it to give drummers the low end of the kick that they want. They get very loud without breaking up and the DSP offers enough protection that you don't have to worry about them blowing up, which is at the top of my list of requirements for any monitor. Highly recommended in this usage!

Very, very happy with this speaker. Don't try unless you know you can afford.. :)
This "little" speaker will knock your socks off, maybe even the paint off your walls! I don't think this speaker knows how to distort!! Using primarily as a FRFR (full range, flat response) speaker for the Line 6 Helix (guitar), with some PA/Music playing via the RCA jacks on the back. Either way, this is an awesome speaker. At about 1/3 volume, you can hear the speaker clearly and crisply at 1/2 block away (~200ft). At half volume, you will need ear plugs!! Very satisfied with this speaker!
