Outstanding Drone With Such Easy to Use Controls and an Incredible Camera System
I had never flown a drone. After once again being asked for drone photos and video for a real estate ad, I decided to take the plunge. After some research and study, I decided on the Mavic Air 2. Once it arrived, I watched a couple of YouTube videos and the training material referenced by the DJI. 15 minutes later I was putting the drone through some very simple maneuvers - up, down, and circling about. I was a bit nervous since I have a lot of trees and part of the flight was over water. However, using it in the slowest mode, I was soon making basic maneuvers with relative ease.I looked at a few more YouTube videos to get a better understanding of the camera settings for I didn't have a lot of time to master them. It turns out the controls are rather simple but yet, give the camera excellent capabilities. After a couple more short flights around the area, I went to the 411-acre property I needed to film. Again, I was a bit apprehensive for this is timberland with a 36-acre lake. I needed to get much higher than my trial flights and go much further -- for they wanted a broad view of the timber and the lake.I launched the drone from the road and went up over the tall pines. Then I flew out over the lake. The drone was in the line of sight BUT was too small to be seen when it was very far away. I could see where it was headed through the control pad with the attached iPhone but still it was a bit worrisome when it was so far away. With video, every movement is magnified. In order to make a good video, you have to make sure all of your movements are smooth and even. The controls with this drone make it very easy. While I messed up now and then, scooting sideways when I meant to turn, due to using the wrong "stick", the controls soon became more and more natural to use. Before long, I was maneuvring with ease. I actually even took the drone through two pine trees that were about 15 feet apart on an overlook to the lake that was about 100 yards away. Now, that might not sound like a big deal to someone used to flying a drone, but to a novice who was using the view on my iPhone as the only guide (and still a little shaky on the controls), it was a very big deal. The result was a nice dramatic shot. While I was still being very careful, my confidence was at a high level after using the drone under these circumstances. It was easy to maneuver and its performance was outstanding. I am far from being a pro with this, but I am really a bit surprised at how easy it is to use. Even with my little bit of experience, I know it will more than meet the demands I will have for it.So, I am extremely impressed with this drone. While it is easy to learn and master, it certainly has outstanding capabilities - especially with the camera system. 4K video and 48MP camera.Bottom line: this is a really good choice for anyone interested in a high-quality drone with excellent flying capabilities and an outstanding camera system. Now to get my FAA-Certified Drone Pilot license so I can use it commercially. (Not required unless you are going to charge for your services).

Great combo for a great drone!
Well what can I say that folks haven't already....I have built many Quads/drones over the years and own quite a few. The Mavic Air 2 is pretty amazing.I can say this after using it a TON over the past several months....this little guy literally does everything! Kudos to DJI for updating software with new features as well.If you are in the market for an "out of the box" experience where you can get up and fly easily, this is a great drone and I am sorry to say that I fly the Mavic Air 2 more often than any other drone I have built/purchased....its just that easy to use.I want to add this...the case is OK. It is not rugged and is not something I use at all. I went to Harbor freight and made a great case for this that has all of my accessories to include a tablet and 5 batteries. There are a ton of videos to give you some inspiration.Bottom line....this thing is great. No you wont be doing acro with it but the simple fun of flying it and taking videos put it on par with some of my "professional" builds and quite honestly I have been using this for a bunch of my videography needs....Just simple and easy to use!Ohhhhh....for folks flying indoors.....be very aware of the props just like any drone you fly in the house. I made the mistake of "playing with my dogs" and hit the ceiling fan....OOOPS....but still works fine and no damage whatsoever!

Distance problem and cable fit issue with android note 20 and otter box
First flight...no obstructions....approx half mile out....week signal message. Now checking....seems to be a well known problem that unit does not come close to specs for distance. There is no fix and dji does not seem to really care. You should be aware of this before you buy. I was hoping to use the mav 2 to fly out to coastal rock formations...now not sure this will work. Also a note...the controller will have trouble fitting larger phones with the otter box on....too big for the cradle. I have the galaxy ultra note 20. My solution is to remove the rubber casing from the otter...then it just fits. The other issue that is likely to be a problem with many phone cases....the 90 degree connector provided to attach to the phone will not work in many cases because 1} the 90 degree shape of the connector is blocked by the frame or bulk of the phone case and 2) since the phone case holds the connector farther away from the hole....the connector does not make it into the opening. The cable solution was solved by purchasing a small cable about 6 inches long that had the correct connectors on each end....oriented with a straight in connection like most connector cords. Look carefully at the shape of the connector plugs that come with the mavic to connect the controller to your phone and you will see the possible issue depending on your phone case. Can’t really blame dji on this one...there connector cord is a cool design with the 90 degree plug ..it just does not work with some phone cases. Easy solition is a 8 dollar replacement cord. Other than these items the unit is pretty high tech and works very well. Amazing the technology packed into the unit.
