A Trucker's Survival Guide to Eating In
Holding the soft cover version of A Trucker's Survival Guide to Eating In by Mike and Steve Sniezak I expected to open the cover and find page after page of recipes with maybe an introduction by the authors about their recommend knife or stewing pot. I was delighted to open the cover and find out how wrong I was. Now there are recipes scattered throughout the book; most are accredited to some family member or special acquaintance. However; the jewel of the book lies among these recipes, smart relevant commentary on how to eat right while on the road.Disclaimer - I am not a truck driver, but I did travel on a weekly basis back in my youth, and eating on the road (restaurants, dinners, and fast food joints) will add many unhealthy issues to your digestive system.I found the advice, in most cases, sound and truly believe that words were written by individuals who have lived on the restaurant and dinner side and have found their way back to a more healthy eating regimentation.I recommend this book if you a looking for healthy ideas and alternatives when traveling or living a lifestyle that finds you eating to too many meals out.

Inspiration for never eating at McD's again
This was a great read from a chef who's constantly on the move and I love that he doesn't try to tie you w exact recipes instead try's to inspire your inner chef. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because the author isn't actualy confined to a truck and it shows a little.I spend 7 to 14 days in a small mack and I'll tell my absolute must haves are my freezer made by Norcold, 700watt microwave and my secret weapon.."stone pot" (round covered baker, from pampered chef)( www.pamperedchef.biz/AMOR )whitch is AWESOME makes slowcooker style food w microwave speed. Everything from raw chicken, fish, soup, beef roast, frozen burritos and the list goes on!!You won't believe this food came from a microwave!!And best of all easy clean no dishwater needed, just fill w an inch of water scrape and back in the microwave it goes in until hot.Keep on Truckin!

A difficult read
While I enjoyed the recipes (yes, I'm a trucker looking to eat a bit healthier), I had a rather difficult time with the author's spelling, grammar, and particularly awkward lack of punctuation. I ended up having to read each sentence several times to figure out where the commas were supposed to be, in order to figure out the gist of the sentence. I'm not used to having to put in that much effort to decrypting a simple recipe book. That being said, not everyone has access to a microwave, not all trucks are equipped with freezers and/or adequate coolers to preserve food on long trips, so concessions must be made in order to adapt the cuisine to your particular circumstances.
