but it is definitely a good starting point
This book was extremely helpful in studying for my PTCB exam. I was able to pass it on my first attempt. It did not have all the information that was needed for the exam, but it is definitely a good starting point. I did notice that a few of the questions in the test bank at the back of the book had incorrect answers as a few other reviewers had also mentioned.

OK for guidance, not for study as only source
UPDATE: using this book, as well as other websites and different sources, I passed the exam. This book starts saying that "no book can cram all of the references you'll need into one tome without cracking your spine - there's a lot to learn!", which encourages you (but not!) and pretty much says that this book doesn't have everything you need to know for the PTCB test. They've spent a whole page to convert hours to the 24h-format, but they cannot give you some paragraphs about the compounding USP chapter (they state you should find the chapter by yourself and read it). Also, be aware of the """full practice exam"""". The answer key has errors (like saying that IX is 5 and not 9), and some of the questions I believe have been gotten from elementary school books (please see photo attached). It has so many typos and grammatical errors that sometimes it's hard to concentrate without noticing them. I'm upset that a lot of websites say that this book is the best one to use to study. I found out that it works more as a guidance than as a real prep book. If you're going to buy it, make sure you have other study sources as well.

Reasonable price for technician test prep
A good review for the pharmacy technician exam, it's very thorough and explains things in a fair amount of depth. Would certainly recommend for those wanting to take the exam to get certified. I rated four stars however, because while the information is good, there are several typos within the book, which make me question it a little, but I've found the wealth of information more important than their lack of editors.

Decent book just not the best
I didn't hate the book but I didn't love it either .I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who plans on passing the PTCB it has way too many errors and doesn't go as in depth as it should. It did however have some information that I did see on the PTCB but not enough if I didn't use Quizlet and Apha's Complete Math Review for the pharmacy technician to study and my year of working as a Pharmacy tech I would have failed. Its a good refresher book for people that are ALREADY PTCB'S and have experience as Pharmacy techs but, not for someone trying to be become a Tech. It's important that you do your research on whatever book you decided to purchase looking at reviews helps a lot.So like I said I wouldn't recommend it but it's not a Horrible book just not one of the top contenders. Side note: I passed my PTCB

Easy to understand, Does what it promises
The book was written in a conversational tone, very easy to understand. It didn't make me bored to tears, which is more than I can say for other PTCB study books. The content wasn't completely comprehensive, but this was a great study tool. I paired this with online resources and practice tests. There isn't any filler, it's just study content. I would recommend it for anyone getting prepared for the PTCB Exam. It definitely played a large role in my passing score.

There are a few mistakes in the answer key part ...
There are a few mistakes in the answer key part. For example, it ask what does the abbreviation "g" means the bfront part of the book says gallon but the answer key says gram. When gram is "gm". Another is convert IX to Arabic number, the answer is 9, the answer keys said 5. And there are a couple others. I paid too high for this book for it to have that many mistakes. I take my grades and school seriously and I expected more...

I think this book gave me the confidence to complete ...
I think this book gave me the confidence to complete this test because I wasn’t so overwhelmed by how thick the book was, or how long the chapters were. I could really focus on just reading, studying, and understanding the material at hand.

Okay intro level book, but quiz has multiple incorrect answers
I'm currently studying on my own for the PTCB so no classes for me, just my pharmacists to answer questions for me when we have a moment to breathe during work.If you are wanting a book that will help you refresh your math skills, or some basic terminology and a starter list of common drugs, then buy it.However, I have taken the exam at the end of the book and found 3 blatant errors - I'm tight on time and haven't checked the rest of of my "incorrect" answers.#1 - it says that the Roman numeral IX is 5.#2 - It says that the FDA Orange Book does not exist.#3 - It says that OxyContin is a Schedule III drug.Luckily, I bought several other textbooks to work from, specifically pharmacology and pharmacy math, so this junk can go to my fellow coworker who is struggling to get by. This will at least give her a leg up on studying for her certification.
