The Big Guy and Rusty The Boy Robot The Complete Series

It Is Finally Here, The Official Release of "The Big Guy & Rusty The Boy Robot"!
It Is Finally Here! I LOVED this show when I originally watched it on Fox Kids years ago. Since then I have been eagerly waiting for an official DVD release. It took a few years but here it is and make no mistake, this is an official, professionally made release. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews that this would be one of those bootleg, recorded from TV burned to DVD releases. While yes it is true these are DVD-R discs, the discs and the packaging are all professionally made. It is even shrink wrapped. While the discs themselves may not have "artwork" on them, they do feature professionally made titles and descriptions and Sony trademarks all clearly printed on a white background. If you did not look at the bottom of the DVDs you would have thought these were the normal, factory pressed DVDs. The picture quality is fantastic. Again you can see this was not recorded from a TV broadcast but sourced from the original material and the sound quality is amazing. The sound is leagues better than any previously recorded TV copy. Again when all is said and done, this feels like a professional release and not like something someone made at home. I hope this helps. BTW it does feature a DVD menu with episode selects. If this is the way to bring out hard to release material, I say give me more! Now if someone would release the complete series of "The Bionic Six" and "The Mighty Orbots", I would buy them day 1!

A Great Show with Characters you can Root For!
This one is FANTASTIC! A lot of fun, very kid safe (with the exception of some minor animated violence). This show is written based on the comic of the same name and views in a typical 90's Saturday morning show format. The opening theme is wonderfully addictive, reminiscent of a marching 1950 kids show that is marinated in copious amounts of US propaganda. The artwork also gives homage to the comic art style of the 1950's with plenty of unnecessary aerodynamic lines and rocket ships that look more like ballpoint pens with airfoils. I appreciate that the writing depicts well defined moral values; the good guys are good and the bad guys are bad, no dark or brooding anti heroes in this one. Another notable part of the script is how the main characters “Rusty” is often confronted with moral choices that a child would confront in daily life like lying, stealing, and keeping a promise. It’s a fun show that you can let the kids watch without the need for supervision or couch censoring, though I think most parents will find it hard to tear themselves away from the program as well. The DVD case is sound and the menu and content are set up well. The artwork on the DVD case is clipped from the animation and looks blurry and rushed to production.Regardless of the rushed case art and nonexistent disc art, this is a great show, a good product, and definitely worth the price.

For the love of Mike!
This show is based on a comic of the same name. I grew up watching this in the 90s and since then it has held a special place in my heart. It has a very unique animation style, interesting heros and villains, and a great premise. The only downside is that it did not receive a proper ending. If you are nostalgic for 90s cartoon this is a great series to watch.

For the love of Mike
A somewhat forgotten gem of 90's Saturday morning cartoons, The Big Guy & Rusty is awesome, from the catchy theme song you will be humming for days, the animation, the humor, & some good ole fashioned Saturday morning cartoons slobberknocker violence lol. It's great for kids and kids at heart who like their giant robots with a sense of humor, action, and actual good story telling.

A True Classic that Stands the Test of Time!
I loved this show when it came out and it's still just as fresh. My 14 year old daughter finds it fun, and the same goes for my 5 year old grandson. Chock full of Pop Culture references and some of the wittiest dialog you'll find in a show aimed at kids. Heck my wife even laughs at the jokes when she wanders into the room. So much better than the dreck that passes for kids cartoons today. Many have discussed the video quality and I can confirm it's just fine. I don't have the highest end of TVs but unless you absolutely demand crystal clarity you're going to more than happy.

Finally a DVD Copy of a Great Cartoon!
I had old mpeg recordings of this show that I had captured off my DVR years ago. I was also missing 2 episodes. I would occasionally look for a DVD remaster but this is the first I've found. Quality of the video on the DVD is good. The show itself is a great mix of sly humor (the Legion Ex-machina) and child-like innocence (Rusty). A charmer for kids and adults.

Thank you
Love this!!! Thank you. Watched a bit of it and as a Fox Kids cartoon collector I am so happy. There's a dozen others from the kids block I wouldn't mind Amazon finding a way to distribute just like this. This is wonderful for people like me who just want to be able to watch the shows I grew up with that have been forgotten so quickly by everyone. Love this. Thank you.

Fox Kids Saturday Morning
Finding this collection was a great day for me, placing it on the shelf with the Tick and other Saturday Morning classics was even better; from the opening theme right through to every robot punch this series has all the nostalgia for you and family friendly thrills for your kids.
