Dermarest Psoriasis Medicated Treatment Gel, 4 oz

Very Effective. I should have written a review sooner but I find this product to work very well with calming my scalp. I use it when I get scabs and itchy areas on my scalp. I have Sjögren’s and I have flare ups on my scalp and if I start using this product, things calm down. It’s good to have found this because I had been using a prescription from my dermatologist which I found to be very strong and not as effective as this gel. It has lasted me and goes a long way. It’s easy to apply and the results are fast.

i have both ppp and plaque psoriasis. the plaque has recently spread, and i have been trying everything that has good reviews. some have helped and some have not. this has made a huge difference AND in less than a week. i have already ordered another bottle. it's the best AND the least expensive product i've used and it's not greasy and it doesn't smell weird (to me anyway . . . alcohol smell sort of). it has 3% salicylic acid and zink and both seem to make a huge difference. helps with itching and stinging and also helps the skin to "shed" and be smoother better than anything i've used in the four years since i've had this mess. i have used on my foot/ankle/soles/face/neck . . . and ALL have improved. i do NOT want to take the bioligics & other rxs that're advertised. the side effects sound as bad or worse than the psoriasis . . . everything from stomach issues to suicide!

It works to get rid of flakes, but goes very fast. I used up the bottle way to quickly for the price. Also the bottle is hard to squeeze when it starts to get empty. Beware if you have curly hair because you will flake off in your hair during the day which is gross. You have to be prepared to use it, flake, brush your hair and wash it again for scalp psoriasis. The take-away -- it does get rid of the flakes but is not a perfect product. If you have thin or straight hair it is probably great for you.

I self-diagnosed a small patch of scalp plaque psoriasis; for the past approximately three weeks, I'd had a patch on top of my head about 1 inch in diameter where the skin felt thick. It was also a little itchy, so I'd pick at it idly, turning it into a permanent oozing scab. Ugh. After giving up hope that it would go away on its own, I Dr. Googled the condition and read that salicylic acid is a common treatment. I ordered this gel, figuring it couldn't hurt to try. The first application stung quite a bit, (because I'd scratched the area raw!), but - I kid you not - mere hours later (maybe 6 hours?) - the buildup of skin and the itching were GONE. The patch was now just a reddened area. It's now the next day, and I've applied the gel three times. Subsequent applications caused no pain, and the redness has diminished. Needless to say, I'm pleased with the results.

I seriously can’t tell if it’s helping or hurting. When first applied - yes, it immediately masks and evens out the scaly patches and makes them disappear. If you try to remove them later, they slide off much easier due to the softening effect of the acid. The problem is what happens after - the skin gets so thin and crepey in the areas where you regularly apply the gel that they dry out and scale back almost immediately and now you’re stuck in a permanent loop. Such a strange product.

This really works for me. I cannot find it anymore. It’s a bummer after 20+ years of looking.

It's not a cure, but I don't want to take drugs to "cure" it. Those reported side effects are a bit too scary for me. It's just a topical treatment, but the best topical treatment I've found. There's no smell, the gel is ultra-easy to apply with its twist-to-open-and-close top (like the top on a bottle of Elmer's glue), it dries quickly, and it really, really helps.

This actually works to heal my psoriasis to a degree. Very few products can do that . Nothing seems to help for too terribly long though so we will see , but has definitely made an improvement for my psoriasis and I have more than a moderate case.
