French Fries in Pita: A Collection of Herb Keinon's Columns on Life in Israel

Such a great read! Didn't want it to end!
It takes a great writer to be able to write serious political pieces for the Jerusalem Post AND be able to write a lighter read like "French Fries In Pita." Herb Keinon is just that great writer. The book is about family - and life - and Israel - and life - and family. I found myself feeling like Herb put down in writing the exact feelings that often go through my head! If you are a parent of a growing family - if you've ever been to Israel or have wanted to go to Israel - or even if you are none of the above! - you'll love this book of vignettes of Herb's family life as an immigrant to Israel. You'll also love it if you just want to smile, laugh out loud, or re-live some of the things most of us have gone through in one way or another. I'm already thinking of reading the book again because I enjoyed it so much the first time (and that was only a few weeks ago!). Highly recommend it - and if you've never actually had french fries in a pita, would highly recommend that too!

I highly recommend Herb Keinon's collection of columns - French Fries in Pita. It is a thoroughly enjoyable read that is both funny and touching and gives the reader a very good sense of the life of an immigrant in Israel over a period of years - from making aliya in his 20's to raising four children there. And while the columns describe (in his own engaging and humorous style) the many situations that he has encountered as an immigrant, there are also many memorable moments related to marriage and parenthood that readers everywhere can relate to.

A MUST READ
This book is absolutely marvelous. The way Keinon so profoundly relates the realities of living in Israel and making Aliyah is remarkable. Any immigrant in Israel can relate to this book. This should, simply, be required reading for every person who makes aliyah.

I am enjoying his description of various situations and identify with it. I shared part of my life with his mother who would have been very proud of him .
