The taste is great - very yummy
The taste is great - very yummy. I had another one from Matouk's that I thought was red and called Flambeau - but the first bottle I bought was a thicker hot sauce and MUCH hotter...which is what I was trying to purchase when I bought this. The other sauce, you didn't have to use much and it had a great kick and was also super yummy. This is like its milder cousin - so still good, but not too spicy. If anyone knows the name of the other one I got from them that is red and called something similar to Flambeau - much appreciated. I miss that hot sauce. Side note - try this hot sauce on pizza - you will not be disappointed.

Very good hot sauce
This hot sauce packs some pretty good heat and the flavor is pretty good too. I first found Matouks Salsa Picante Hot Pepper Sauce and then tried this flavor (Flambeau) out because I thought it might be hotter. In my opinion, it is about the same level of hotness and the Salsa Picante has a little bit better flavor. Bottom line is that they are both great hot sauces but I lean towards Matouks Salsa Picante Hot Pepper Sauce flavor. I've also shared both of these flavors with hot sauce aficionados and they all agreed with above sentiments.

Yummy time
Matouk's Flambeau Sauce with aged pickled scotch bonnet peppers (a cousin of the habañero, the scotch bonnet is a bit sweeter) this sauce reminds me of some "jerk" recipes I've tasted. If you think the typical hot sauce off the shelf is hot, only add a small amount of this to your food. If you're like me and have chomped down a ghost chili without flinching, then Flambeau is a great addition to any meal. It's not the hottest sauce out there, but is one of the most enjoyable. Great flavor.

Don't let the plain package fool you!
This is my all time favorite. It is often overlooked because of it's plain packaging and the fact that it does not have a funny name but it is truly one of the greatest hot sauces. It is not hot like "Dave's" or "After Death" or the other concentrates but it is about as close as you can get and still have really good flavor. It is the hottest sauce that you can find that actually tastes good. If you are an experienced pepper lover that is tired of novelty sauces that taste like cardboard this is a must try. It is really really hot and really really good!

not for me
I read somewhere that this was matouk's best but to me it tastes the way ketchup tastes when you have a cold and your taste buds don't work. the calypso sauce is where it's at for me since it tastes better and is spicier but i haven't tried the scorpion pepper stuff yet. still need to do that.

Matouk's flambeau sauce & the hot shoppe
Matouk's Flambeau sauce is, as advertised HOT ! Just what I wanted. For those hot sauce geeks, this is the hottest natural sauce (no concentrated capsaicin added) and it tastes great. A real taste of the islands, mon. By the way, the seller (The Hot Shoppe) rapidly and professionally resolved a lateness problem. I rate the whole experience as being excellent and add that I was treated with excellent service. I highly recommend this sauce and the seller to anyone with similar interests. You cannot go wrong.
