This was different.... But not in a bad way
Probably the first fantasy book I've read that has a protagonist that is an addict where the his fall into addiction seems to be his main story arc and I'm not mad at it... Make it feel more real somehow

Much worse than the first
Only about 20% of this book was worth reading. Adding to many points of view that contributed nothing to the storey, lore or even world building.I hope it's a trilogy as I want to see how it ends.Interesting magic system and good plot, just ruined by obscene amounts of flufd

Decent Read
The 2nd installment of the trilogy was decent. But it takes a lot to keep track of all of the varied stories going on in the book. Each chapter jumps to a different sub-story - sometimes I forget what was going on n previous chapters. The author did a good job of giving us a full decription of the 'human' characters, however, the 'demon' characters aren't fully developed, making it hard to understand what they are, where they come from, I would have preferred a bit more of a back story on them. All in all, it's a decent, dragon story that allows the reader to be entertained

Great second book!
Great second book, continuing right where the first one left off. I'll be interested to see the third book and how the author will bring everything back together! I love the story around Darnuir and his hardships with becoming the king. I also enjoyed how there is so much more to the story without giving to much away. Also I like the underlying tone of just how far people will go to take care of their own. Anyhow looking forward to the next book!

Great Example of the Fantasy Genre
The new dragon king who is still learning the limits of his abilities must try and bring the races of dragons, fairies and humans together, to stop the evil demons intent on their extermination. While fighting hordes of demons he must also fight an internal battle with his sword to control the addiction of using the magic. This is a great fantasy read. It has all the elements a fantasy novel needs to keep you entertained and the pages turning. I highly recommend this series.

Absolutely fabulous read! The characters are well defined and the world building is fantastic. You can identify with the struggles and the cracks and imperfections of characters that are expected to be perfect and greater than all the rest! They become more believable and also more likeable. You will find yourself caught up in their struggle to meet the expectations of the people around them. A very satisfying read that will leave you desiring more. Also a book that is very hard to put down! Intelligently written! Cudos!

Multi faceted
I think this is the best book of the series. Very well writen with fleshed out characters and riviting storylines. I would have given it 5 stars had the ending been more resolute. I felt as though there could be another book or minimally a spin-off. I was certainly looking for more.

Shadows Wars
Awesome bloody series, absolutley epic, why I haven't read this series when it was first released is beyond me, more getting to know the characters better, more political intriguing, Darnuir the Dragon King is struggling with the pressure of his new role, He bring the three race together and band together against the hordes and Shadow that is coming, lots of big players in this book which is just as good as the first if not better, big battles, plenty of magic and the worldbuilding is outstanding, Dave Cruse gives another fantastic preformence with husky and gravity voice, highly recommended....π

A new light in heroic fantasy. Great stuff!
I would highly recommend that people read this second book in Michael Miller's trilogy. It's well written, well imagined and, as with book 1, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.I shall be very interested to see where things go from here. The end of this book leaves all kinds of possibilities for future storylines involving many of the different races; Humans, Dragons, Fairies, Spectres, Trolls and Demons.I've read a lot of fantasy in the past and this series is right up there with my all-time favourites. Give this series a try, you won't be disappointed!

Do not be fooled to think this is an inexperienced new author
You'd think a fresh new writer without a lot of experience would do kind of ok if his ideas were interesting.I got to know the author at law school and we briefly discussed his plans. The first book blew me away with its originality. As soon as you start the second book you can feel he has gathered momentum: the plot is so ooo much deeper and the twists so unexpected and brutal! I loved this book! On par with some of the greats! Bravo! Can't wait for book 3!
