Highly recommended!
I loved this book! I've recommended it to all my friends, church family and pastor! It opened my eyes to how the church today continues in its original purpose which is to help those that are in need. In doing so we demonstrate the love of Christ and it allows us the opportunity to share the gospel. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Here We Go Again!
The title of this book is too humble! It should've been titled, Here We Go Again! Historian George Grant does a scholarly and compelling job of following the Pro-Life movement from the first century to today. We have swallowed a lie that abortion is a relatively new procedure and socially progressive choice. The truth is that abortion was rampant in the first century and the early Christians stood against it as part of their efforts to spread the life-giving Gospel of Jesus Christ. This book will blow you away!

Eye opening read
Third Time Around is the most comprehensive historical review of the ongoing fight for the sanctity of human life I have read to date. So many men and women, from ordinary to influential, have sacrificed their lives throughout the centuries for the unborn, abandoned and displaced because of their deep faith in God and His directive to care for the poor and oppressed - I was astounded! I learned much about this ongoing battle that I never knew. This is a history lesson we all would benefit from reading.

including good insights as to how Christians should be responding to ...
Well researched history of the pro-life movement since the time of Christ, including good insights as to how Christians should be responding to the abortion carnage today. Personally, I had no idea that the Church has been down this path, and succeeded in stamping out abortion, twice before.

Will you update this, Dr. Grant?
I read this excellent historical summary of the pro-life movement in the early '90s.With all that has happened in the past 30 years and in light of the Dobbs case, I would love to see an updated version.Even without that, though, I do recommend this book as it both gives great historical context, as well as opportunities for action as we go forward.

Most fascinating and important book I've read in years
The pro-choice movement has led us to think thata. Before 1973 abortion was in back alleys, always illegal, and rareb. Before 1973 the Church was uninvolved in abortionIn fact, many people believe that the very concept of “pro-life” was INVENTED by the Republican party in the 1980’s in order to mobilize Christians as a voting bloc for them. I hear this view promoted constantly on NPR.But the author, George Gant, provides detailed, fascinating evidence that:a. There is an unbroken, documented history covering all continents for over 2000 years that abortion has been practiced. It just isn’t that hard. People everywhere since antiquity figured out that if you introduce a foreign liquid into the womb, the baby will die. Gant cites historical documents about this.b. There is an unbroken, documented history over the last 2000 years of the Church speaking out against abortion. Just about every famous name you can think of from every century in Christendom addressed the issue. Gant cites these historical documents as well. Why the title Third Time Around? Gant argues that1. At the height of the Roman empire, the world was pagan and celebrated a culture of death: abortion, infanticide, murder, war, etc.a. Then in the 4th Century (until the end of the Dark Ages), Christianity became the prevailing force, and promoted a culture of life. This was the first time around.2. At the beginning of the Renaissance, there was a renewed interest in secularism/paganism, and the prevailing culture returned to a celebration of death.a. Though the Reformation also took place at the same time, over the next two centuries, the Church regained its position as a dominant force and upheld the very foundation of our Judeo-Christian culture affirming life. This was the second time around.3. With the advent of modernism/post modernism and communism in the 20th century, there was a return to the celebration of death, secularism, and paganism.a. We are now in the third time around in the Church’s attempt to bring our culture into a celebration of life.
