Packed with more information that you could ever hope for, absolutely worth the price

Having visited the Ukraine Air Force on several occasions, I was keen to see what details this book contained. It did not disappoint. Lots of history on each of the types currently operated. Furthermore the war with Russia in the east of the country is mentioned. The photography is amazing, and knowing some of the photographers, I was pleased to see such wonderful coverage. Highly recommended.

I found this book fantastic for it's coverage of an Air Force, that is not usually covered

Of the many post-Soviet era Air Forces created by the by the break-up of the USSR, the Ukraine inherited the most diverse range of equipment of any of the former republics. That makes it a subject of considerable interest for the military analyst and aviation enthusiast alike, although only a relatively small number of those aircraft remain in serviceable condition.For me as a keen aircraft photographer, the range of types still operated, all of Russian, Ukrainian or Czech origin (with the exception of some recently obtained UAVs) and the wide range of exotic liveries and camouflage schemes in which they operate, makes the Ukraine Air Force a greatly attractive target. News of this book’s publication (an update and expanded version of an earlier book by the same author but for a different publisher) was very well received and it would be fair to say it has been one of the most eagerly awaited books of the year for me. And having seen the finished work, I am not disappointed. The layout is familiar Crecy, meaning that high standards of narrative presentation and photo reproduction are upheld. Each type used by Ukraine since independence is individually covered, grouped by role.The author will be familiar to many for his top quality photography illustrating his articles in the pages of Combat Aircraft and AirForces Monthly magazines, mostly looking at aspects of the Iranian Air Force. Being a specialist in this subject unfortunately led him into conflict with the authorities there, and in late 2012 he was arrested and detained in Iran for some four and a half months. Since then he has continued to publish some superb features on Iranian military aviation.On the basis of this excellent volume, it would be great to think that the other former Soviet states might get the same high quality treatment. Be that as it may, the simple fact is that here we have an outstanding survey of the Ukraine Air Force in all its colourful glory. It will take a very welcome place on the shelves of many an enthusiast, that much is assured.

One of the best books on the Ukraine Air Force!

Great book that goes through the different parts of the Ukrainian Air Force. It includes the initial fighting in the Donbass region as well.Pictures and color profiles are top quality. Including many pictures of the very unique pixel camouflages employed by the Ukrainian Air Force.A must for military historians and model builders alike.

La collana di testi della Hikoki pubblications è una serie di libri sull'aviazione sovietico-russa di pregio. Peccato che alcuni libri siano oramai introvabili e a prezzi stratosferici (alcuni ad esempio sulle 800 euro e passa); questo libro sull'aviazione ucraina dalle fondazioni non tradisce sui contenuti e le foto incluse. Fortunatamente grazie ad un bot di telegram sono riuscito ad acquistarlo a 20 euro quando fino a poco tempo fa il prezzo era quasi il doppio.

An excellent volume on the aircraft, units, and battles of the UkrAF. Broken down by type, it covers Soviet use and Ukrainian use, of many subtypes. Battles, pilots, accidents, serial numbers, and loads of beautiful photos. Great for anyone interested in Ukraine since independence, Soviet aircraft, modelling, and aviation photography.
