Due to lid design material, not conducive to stacking long term
For reasons not apparent to me, the top/lid of the box is made of a weaker cardboard than the base of the box. The base is a thick cardboard which holds up well when carrying a box full of graded books or magazines. But the lid is about half as thick and collapses in the middle of the top with just mild pressure. Therefore most of the pressure of stacking another box on top is resisted by the edges of the base of the box...and possibly the tops of your slabs of graded books. If you are not going to stack these boxes you should be fine. If you stack a smaller comic box on top, the lid may likely collapse putting pressure unfortunately on your slabs inside. If you stack another magazine box on top, you may be okay with pressure distributed to the upper part of the sides of the base... mostly. Overall, for about $10 a box+lid ($50 for 5), this is an unfortunately weak design. CGC should be embarrassed to have their logo stamped on this less-than-optimal box. Just be aware the lid is a weaker cardboard than the base -- which should suit most collectors. But for dealers or shop owners who may need to stack the boxes during transport or storage in your store... just be aware of the lid design material being weaker than the base.
