Expected Better for the Price
Light dispersed seemed dim. Lining black interior with aluminum tape noticeably improved effective lighting around 6x6 (actual dim 5.5x5.5) post. Too much light was being absorbed instead of being reflected out the lens. Leave a little space around where the 3 LEDs protrude or the alum tape may short out LED circuit board. *Taping voids warranty*After charging 900 mAH NiMH batteries on NiMH charger (don't use other kind), found they powered the LEDs for 14.5 continuous hours--good news. However, 100 mA (max short circuit current) solar panel doesn't seem to be adequate for charging the batteries so they will run 10-12 hours--5.5 hours is the best I've gotten so far. This is under conditions of early morning and late afternoon shade, plus there were some scattered white clouds in the sky.I did notice that when the solar panel was not pointed directly at the sun, its current output rapidly dropped. To fully charge 900 mAH batteries, approx. 1350 mA (900 x 1.5 efficiency factor) is required. This means that to fully charge the batteries over a 12 hr period, an average of 112.5 mA has to be generated by a 100 mA solar panel--a panel that is too small for the job--bad news.FYI, when the 3 LEDs are lit, together they draw 60-70 mA from the batteries. So, for every hour they are on, the batteries will have to be charged an hour at 90-105 mA (1.5x eff factor).I may try replacing the solar panel with a 200 mA version and install 2000 mA NiMH batteries. Together, this will keep the max charging current at or below a recommended 10% of the mAH rating of the batteries. If the circuit board will allow the additional current to charge the higher capacity batteries, my current 5.5 hrs of run time (under the shade/cloud conditions mentioned earlier) should double to 11 hrs. It's shame that all the solar LED lighting sold isn't engineered to run all night, during winter, and still have enough reserve to push through a couple of overcast days before the batteries bottom out. Also, I have found that the ENELOOP batteries by Panasonic are rated to work (with some reduction in capacity) down to -4 or -5 Deg F--a plus during winter months.

Nice light
Ordered 1 of these to see how they looked and worked. Short review, ordered 4 more. These lights look nice. Being winter, we have not had a lot of days with full sunlight They seem to stay on for long enough vs the amount of sunlight they receive. These are plastic but seem strong enough. Easy to install. I have normal treated 6 x 6 which are really about 5.5 x. 5.5. They fit will and just two supplied screws to hold it in place. Don't forget to open the unit up and turn the switch from OFF to AUTO. Read several review where they said the lights did not come on.

Do not buy
So disappointed in this. We bought these two and only 50% works. The sad part is that we were really looking forward to using these at night. Our gate entrance now looks a bit sad. They worked for a very short time. One of them is completely out and doesn’t work at all. The battery change didn’t help it at all. We have changed the rechargeable battery with no success and also tried regular batteries but no success either. So disappointing to spend a lot of money for items that are not worth it. #MaybeNotWorthBuying

Fifty percent defective
I purchased two of these caps in July. They are installed within six feet of each other and receive the same amount of sun light. One is working ok, but the other is dead and will not charge the batteries. I have put in new charged batteries and the light works fine until the batteries are drained. They will not recharge. I charged and replaced the original batteries, and again the light worked until the batteries were drained. The solar charging is defective, and by the time I compleated the above tests, the return period had expired.

Nice post lamp...but works sporadically.
We bought this to put on top of our mailbox post. The light works well but not extremely bright. Looks good though. UPDATE:. Light works sporadically now after less than one year. At night doesn't come on like it should. When I tap on top of it, it comes on. Must be a loose wire or something else but doesn't work as it should.

Pretty, but does not provide much light
This solar post cap is very pretty, and was easy to install, but after sunset it only stays lit for a couple of hours. I even replaced the batteries and set the solar charger in direct sun for 8 hours, but still, the light only stays on for about two hours. Disappointing.

Love the light but it's a blue-white.
I love the look of the light but it has the blue-white light. Every other solar light in my garden is warm white and it just looks out of place.

Don’t stand the test of time
The caps need a lot of direct sunlight or they’ll barely light up, if they do at all. These posts became a perfect home for insects, so over time bugs would dirty them up. They looked great at first, but I definitely have buyer’s remorse.

One plastic light per package.
I'm not sure what happened, but I thought it read 6 to a pack...but that is my mistake. Way overpriced for a plastic cap. If I had known it was about $40 per light when I needed 8, they could've kept them. I could see the value if it was actual glass, copper or both, but a typical plastic cap. As I said, I must've misread the ad, but they're still overpriced for what they are. They were packaged well and delivered quickly. If you're looking for a $40 plastic post cap that looks coppery...this is it! I'll just shop locally for some replacements.

Broken
Something broken, when its dark it turns on, but goes off after a few minutes If you turn the switch off/on it goes back on, but again for only a minute or so. After that it needs to reset again, it wont stay on for longer than that. Something shorting. Whole thing is just plastic junk. I would return it but shipping was so slow I dont want to be dealing with a piece of plastic junk for months. Definitely not worth $40, dollarstore quality.

Bright & Beautiful! Good quality!
Excellent product! Lights up beautifully! Looks great on the post next to our gate. Bright,, for solar! We had to trim our post a little bit for the light to fit, but no big deal. Probably will buy another one.

failed after heavy rain
Very attractive light. Bought two for the gate posts at the end of my driveway six months ago. Worked fine all winter in low daylight. The first one has failed recently after a week of heavy rain. Is this item warrantable?
