Great children's book
My four and half year old son loves this book. It's a different idea that I find weird but he loves it lol. It's a quick easy read.

Funny
This was a different aspect of a chicken's life as a picture book and full of humor.

Instantly Lovable...
My 3-1/2 year-old daughter just started giggling as soon as she saw Henny and has wanted to read the book every night this week. There's something just instantly relatable about a chicken trying to cope with human arms, and Henny is full of humor and empathy that even young kids can grasp. The "everyone is important" message can sometimes get cliche in children's books, but Henny struck a great balance between the humor and heartache of being different, and how we can all find a path with our unique talents.

This book became an instant favorite with our grandkids
This book became an instant favorite with our grandkids....it introduces a lovable chicken who worries about being "different" but moves quickly towards all the unique things it can now do that other "normal" chickens can't......blurring the distinction. We have added Ms. Stanton's companion book "Peddles" to our collection...another charmer encouraging young kids to take on new challenges and try new things!

HUGS FOR HENNY
OMGoodness!! HENNY had me at her wave "Hello". The illustrations are enchanting and full of personality. Plus this is a story that needs to be told. Full of questioning, thinking, and learning that DIFFERENT can be GOOD, this book should be in every home and its message in every heart.

Cute Story, Great Message
I love this book!!! I even read it to my sixth grade students (we were doing a project involving children's books) and they loved it so much that they continued to talk about it throughout the year. A cute story with a strong message - I think Henny will become a classic!

Quirky and a good lesson
I picked up the book for a few friends who have kids and they loved the book! The quirkiness caught my eye, but the underlying message made it a winner. A story of a chicken who finds her place in the world by shifting her perspective. And what a multitude of possibilities she has!A fun read.

Cute story about being different
This is such a cute story about being different. After borrowing it from the library, we loved it so much that we had to buy it. I also used it for a program in a kindergarten class and the kids loved it.

"Funny haha or funny strange?" (SNL)
Both haha AND strange. Yes, those are arms that you see on the chicken. Suffice it to say that this is a humorous take on being different and how being different has its rosy and not so rosy moments. Henny is endearing throughout. Slapstick humour is in both the writing and the illustrations. There is an especially funny scene where Henny pretends to make her arms look like wings. And it is exactly how a human would mimic a chicken. You can almost hear Henny clucking, "bock-bock," to go along with the arm-wing flapping. The ending is great (spoiler alert) because who says chickens can't fly?
