Hayward FDXLBPK1930 FD Heater bypass Cartridge Replacement Kit for Hayward Universal H-Series Low Nox Pool Heater

At the end of last season the heater hammered when shut off an indication of internal boiling. The heater is going into its 4 season and I replaced the by-pass valve to eliminate the possibility of it being the cause of poor flow. I also improved flow by changing my jets to a larger orifice opening (3/8 to 3/4) dropping pressure and improving flow. This part was a high quality part and was easy to install with a diagram from the manual as a guide.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago. We were getting a flow error on our heater. Through troubleshooting we took this part off and found that the valve inside was broken. This part fit perfectly and the heater is still working. It was the same as the original part. The price was great too. Would recommend purchasing it as a replacement.

Easy to install

Tough getting it out -- used a screwdriver through the hole in the handle. Easier getting back in - a little silicone grease on the O-Ring, align the grooves, and a rubber mallet.

I must have let my PH get away from me last year... The spring on the bypass degraded to the point of breaking.... However this was easy to fix.

This bypass cartridge fits several H-series Hayward pool heaters. Mine failed due to lapses in getting pool chemistry right. If you get a pool heater be sure to nail the calcium (hardness) pH and chlorine levels consistently. The failure was all about corrosion and this failure will look like a pressure gauge failure because the bypass opens all the time and this lowers the pressure at the water intake enough that the pressure sensor fails to detect flow. Result is a "LO" error and shutdown. Good service from Amazon. This is changing the face of DIY repairs.

Is a perfect replacement for my Hayward pool heater. Has been installed and working for over a year now with no issues.
