Solid, well made very safe scooter with a lot of good features that will last a very long time

I did quite a bit of research on scooters before buying one for my son. Bottom line is that you get what you pay for...up to a point. There are a load of inexpensive scooters that are often said to be "good enough". Their limitations are smaller wheels that wear out or break faster or more easily. They have weight limits that your child may exceed by the time they're 11 or 12. The decks are smaller and the brake actuators are smaller and may be harder to use. The whole scooter may break if they do some curb hopping or other minor 'tricks' or hard usage. So you'll end up buying a second and perhaps third or fourth, making the bargain much less bargainy. This is a solid scooter you can get for about 50% more than the cheapest available. It has big heavy duty wheels that will take a long time to wear out and won't break unless your kid is doing tricks that would cause you to wet your pants if you saw them doing it. It has a large deck with plenty of foot space for better balance and fewer foot slips. Big brake pedal with raised markings which is easy to actuate and control. Solid heavy duty welds, thick aluminum and a fixed handlebar, plus >200lb weight load limit. In short, this scooter is safer than a $20 cheapie, will last longer, and you probably won't ever have to do anything with it like replace wheels. Some folks that really beat on it report they need to change the grips on the handlebars. They seem pretty tough to me.Worst problem with these is everyone knows they're a good scooter, so it may get stolen more often. My son was messing around with friends a few weeks ago and they all left their scooters on a lawn out of sight for a few minutes. My son's pro was grabbed but not the others. So make sure someone keeps an eye on this or its put away.

Strong and sturdy but too short

This scooter wasn't quite what I expected. I'm not a user myself, so I didn't know what features to look for when buying this gift for one of my three sons. What I do know is that we've gone through...I dunno, a dozen different scooters?! And they break down a lot faster than I'd hope. This scooter is definitely stronger than the fold-up type, so in that sense it's a win. What I didn't realize is that unlike the other ones we've had the height is not adjustable. To my non-expert eye the height seems about right for my 4'11 son, but I'd been thinking this would last a few years. Maybe short is the style for doing tricks? But my kid just zips around the neighborhood and he's already needing to bend over a bit.I'll be looking to see if there's an after market replacement for the neck to see if it can grow with him. In the meantime, if you or your recipient is adult height, be sure to take a good look at the height of this model before buying.

Growing up as a skateboarder I quickly realized he needed a better scooter (pro model) and I started doing research

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2016*

I have an 8 year old son who started out with a fold-up Razor and then all of the sudden it became the thing to do with his little click. Growing up as a skateboarder I quickly realized he needed a better scooter (pro model) and I started doing research. Not knowing if this was another month long fad like so many things for kids his age I didn't want to spend a ton of money so when I found this at under $50 I couldn't believe the features it had compared to other scooters for twice as much. I decided to purchase and couldn't have been happier with my decision. This was one of Razor's first "Pro" models and for a beginner transitioning to intermediate it's been great. The only issue I have and why I didn't give it 5 stars is it's still an in expensive model. My son's skills advanced so quick the flaws between this and the other true "Pro" models has became apparent. I live in Southern California and my son and I now go to the local skate park all the time and he's ready for a more advanced model. If you want a decent transition scooter to see if your child is really into it then I highly recommend this one. If you know your child is in it for the long haul you can probably skip this one and pay $25-40 more for a fairly good "Pro" model by another manufacturer.
