Update July 2015
Update July 2015 This set is spectacular. Love to show them off and use quite often. Almost 2 years now and not a single nick. And honestly with my family I did not expect these to last. Seriously I at least thought the microwave, but it didn't happen. 3 in college and 2 at home and this set has held it's own. If I could give more than 5 stars, then I would. Highly recommend.

Stunning pieces and value for Money
This set is very beautiful and worth the money you spend. The design of the plate is suitable for daily use. The only drawback is this item do not come with the teapot so it has to be purchased separately to complete the set. All in all, if you're looking for something simple for daily use, you can never go wrong with this set.

Okay set overall, good for its price point
Everything arrived well-packed and nothing was broken. I read some other reviews about the patterns not quite lining up and can confirm that this is the case with many of the pieces. Theres a small gap where the dots ringing the items don't come together properly and a couple of the pieces of trim are off a bit. Its not too noticeable unless you're specifically looking at the patterns but it is there and it is common and it is a screw-up. Still, they look good and they work. Used them once so far and I got compliments on them. And they're some of the cheapest decent looking sets out there so you get what you pay for. I'll probably pick up another 2 or 3 place settings and some of their overpriced add-ons to complete the set. If you don't have tons of cash to spend on nice dinnerware, this is a contender.

Perfect
These are absolutely gorgeous! Being dishwasher safe is a huge bonus as well. They are sturdy, but not thick and clunky. My only "complaint" if you will, is that every single 1 of the 50 items has a bar code sticker on it. The kind of sticker you really have to work to remove. Otherwise these dishes are really beautiful. Classy and they look much more expensive than a they are.

Love the Dinnerware, not the headache
The quality of the dinnerware is excellent. Ordered this set as a Love you gift for my wife. Her first comment was they are so beautiful, I am almost afraid to touch them. (I did good. LOL) I would have given this item five stars without question if not for one issue. One soup bowl was cracked during shipping. It was one of the last items taken out of the box. Amazon said just send them back and they would send a new set. That sounded ok until we tried to repackage the dinnerware. (Wife threatened to break another bowl over my head after two hours of trying). Amazon says just take a soup bowl out of the second order, replace it with cracked one. Sounds good until you realize you have to almost empty the box to get one. Amazon says we have the soup bowls as an individual item on line and they would send me one for free.(Yahoo, I thought). Item is back ordered, will have in three to six weeks. I say ok, no problem. About three weeks later I get a email from Amazon say they did not know when if ever they would be back in stock and I should probably look elsewhere . I looked on line, they are everywhere. I will order one else like the email suggested. Hate to say it, but I will probably not order this type of item from Amazon in the future. To much hassle if everything does not go perfectly.

you cannot beat the price
you cannot beat the price, and you cannot beat the quality of Noritake. Although this product is not made in Japan (Sri Lanka instead), it still maintain excellent quality, finish, and elegant which Noritake represent. I already purchased two sets as gift and going to buy a third one for myself.

If it seems too cheap to be true, it probably is...
The set arrived with only two broken soup bowls out of a box of 50 pieces. I unboxed it and removed the bar code stickers off of each piece (they came off easily). I was showing how beautiful the items were to a friend when we noticed that there were flaws in the pattern on quite a few of the pieces, especially the bowls and dinner plates. These flaws were to the rings along the edge of the pieces. It looked like the machine that placed the rings around the edge stuttered as there were places were there was a gap or smudge in the lines. Noritake has a reputation for fine china so there must be either factory seconds/discards or fake.I took a picture of one of the gaps that were present on the items. Fortunately I also took pictures of how it was packed as I wanted to use the same box for storing the set, so sending it back to Amazon was not as difficult as it could have been. I was lucky in that I had signed up at the Noritake official website to receive notifications about Black Friday so I could get the serving pieces from them. When the Black Friday sale occurred at 30-50% off, I was able to create an Austin Platinum 8 piece set (minus the serving platter and bowl in this set) for around $200 more than this set I bought on Amazon, but at least I know for sure it is authentic. If the set from the factory has flaws also I will update this review, but I would be surprised if it does. 12-29-15 Well I stand corrected on the Amazon set being factory seconds or fakes. Evidently there is a problem with the manufacturing of the china in Sri Lanka because I had the same issues with the items I ordered directly from the official Noritake website. After spending $1,000 ordering the 48 pieces and all the service items I discovered that all eight bowls had the same defect of a gap in the pattern, as well as both salt & pepper shakers, and the large vegetable bowl. I also discovered that both butter/relish dishes and one large dinner plate had scuff/wear marks to the pattern on the outer ring. Noritake customer service has been pleasant to deal with so far, but after receiving a replacement bowl with the same defect I am sending everything back. We will see if I get stuck paying the return shipping or if they will do the right thing and cover the shipping since there have been so many problems with their product. The china is undeniably beautiful but if it is defective no price is a good price. Hopefully they will get this sorted out.

looks lovely
Arrived in a timely manner, in good condition and all was packed carefully --no breakage, thank God, The young bride who received it plans to use it daily as her husband is a professional chef and he was in on the decision making to select this pattern.
