well worth reading
I found the book very helpful. I bought it to answer some specific questions brought to me by parishioners. The book helped me with that as well as expanded my thinking.I think each time period generates in the minds of the faithful a unique set of questions. (of course other questions are asked in all time periods. This book answers some of the questions several of my parishioners were asking.I am not sure why these parishioners are so interested in the demoniacs; this book however allowed me to serve their needs.

Out the box!
Dr Newheart is one of the most creative Biblical Scholars on today's academic scene. His use of poetry and creative description make stories from the Bible have new life. This book revolutionized how i will view Biblical stories of possession and of the impact of state domination. He is worth the read.

I Hate Demons
Ordered by my husband who died suddenly soon after receipt of book. It arrived on time and was as expected, but these requests to rate this product are a constant reminded of my husband's untimely death. I write this review ONLY to stop seeing the request to review it.

MARVELOUS book
As I am preparing to preach on this story this coming week, I took this book down from the shelf and read it through in just one sitting (taking note as I went).VERY helpful not just in understanding this pericope, but also in understanding the Gospel of Mark (my favorite) overall.

Interesting Read
I bought this for a project and found it very interesting. The author gives a narrative reading of Mark 5 (the Gerasene demoniac), using literary and psychological analysis. Rather out there in terms of what I normally expect in a commentary but certainly a useful adjunct if you are considering a study of demonianism/Mark 5.
