The Phantom Tollbooth. Paperback – January 1, 1961

This is probably a children's book, but I read it and then decided I needed to have a hard copy to save. It's a wonderful book, with some fantasy but a good lesson to learn.

I got it due to wanting to keep older books. This one was a little more difficult to keep up with, so I'm going to start from the beginning again. (I tend to speed read which with this book isnt' helpful if you miss important parts of the book). Everything sensible in the world, will no longer be applicable in this book, as everything that doesn't make sense, is the sensible, and visa versa. Its a cool twist though.

This is our favorite read aloud! My 8 year old really enjoyed it and I thought it was incredibly clever and well written, with a subtle moral message about how to approach life in the end! I highly recommend it for upper elementary kids looking for a good read! (There is a lot of clever word play so kids may not get all of the double meanings, but they will still enjoy the adventurous story!)

I originally read this book in school, third grade in 1968. It was the first novel I had attempted and was mesmerized by it. It put me in the adventure along with Milo and Tock. I beleive that it promoted my reading habits from that day forward. As I am a true believer in reading is knowledge, this meant a great deal in my life and accomplishments. Any book that can get a child to enjoy reading and trigger what adventure can be had with a persons imagination, is truley precious. I bought this as a birthday present for a very good friends third grade son. As I understand it, he has a hard time putting it down. Great book.

My grandsons looked forward to my reading of this book. They would ask for the next chapter every time they would come over until the book was finished.This was also a book my first teacher in hypnosis (therapeutic trance) used to illustrate how story and verbal flexibility speak on more than one level at the same time.The drawings deserve special mention; a wonderful combination.I liked the book so much, I passed the paperback version on to a lending library and ordered a hardcover version for my personal library.

Great story. Very fun

I bought this books for my daughters since i my self read the story when i was young, and just thought they might like it and they did the loved the story. Book arrived in perfect condition.
