Very expensive and hard to find, but well worth the money and effort in finding one.

Collectors of Stanley tools that are serious collectors need this book. Great for identifying tools and getting some history on type and years made etc….Highly recommend but it’s not cheap as it’s out of print. The book itself is a collectible item. The guy who wrote it was supposed to come out with a new version a few years ago but it never happened and those in the know say he’s never going to get it done even though there's a web site claiming it will be out soon, it’s been claiming the same thing for years it’s at the printer etc.,, get on the list etc…. no book still . So if you want a great reference book and old pricing info this is the best there is. I’ve paid more for crappy college text books 40+ years ago so this is really a pretty good buy. I recommend if you just want information than an acceptable or good condition for around $100 -125 is not bad price. If your s collector like myself than very good and better condition is recommended $125 to ++++$$$$ range, I personally have a working copy just good condition and an like new book for my collection. There are earlier editions as well but not as useful as the newer editions but still collectible. If your a antique and vintage hard to find bench plane collector this is very highly recommended book. Happy collecting!!

I’ve been collecting for a long time and still was amazed at the wealth of knowledge. Discovered a few new tools and was able to identify some of my odd tools. It’s not a bargain until you find out all the detailed information on every tool. It’s my new coffee table book.

Once you understand the Table of Contents & the Index System, any item & its variants are easy to identify. Brilliant! The result of many years of research.

My goal was to learn more about Stanley Bailey plane and this book was good many years ago. Today if you go on the web you will find a lot of good web site that tell you more about hand plane than this book does, the web also have very good pictures. If you are a hard core collector maybe this book is for you.
