Set-up is NOT simple! You must know what you are doing!
First reaction: I almost returned them! Why? Because they refused to accept the complexity of my WIFI password! WHAT??? These cameras did not like the special characters in my complex WIFI password! You have got to be kidding me! However, I set up a "guest" WIFI account with a less-secure password not using special characters and I was able to get my 3rd party software to "see" these cameras over WIFI. Not an ideal solution, but acceptable. These cameras are true IP webcams which means you don't need the manufacturers software - don't even bother downloading it unless you must. Once you plug these in, and check your router to see what IP was assigned to them, you can access these cameras via that assigned IP and then configure them the way you want them. It takes a bit of work as the provided instructions are completely worthless, but it is doable. They default to PAL video, so be sure to look for and set them to NTSC for the USA. Once they are configured using a web browser, then you can set the up in your 3rd party software, (I use Blue Iris). I did find it strange that the hard-wired IP address and the WIFI IP address are the same. They simply use two different MAC addresses. I expected to need to set up a separate IP address for WIFI.Now I am testing these cameras. They are, so far, acceptable. The image is quite decent. I like that the cameras automatically switch to infrared (IR) for night use. I'm NOT impressed with the mount because to mount these under an eave to the soffit for example, the camera must be turned upside down. This is not critical because either the camera or the viewing software can be set to rotate the image back to upright, but the camera is still upside down! It just does not look right!Oh yes, these cameras have a 160 degree field of view which is fine for my use, but beware! That is a very wide field of view!Have not had these long enough to evaluate lifetime so that will have to wait.

Decent camera for the price, easy to setup, and 100% BlueIris compatible. **Update - found water leak!!
I don't typically write reviews, but I was compelled to write one about this wi-fi camera-First off... This is not a top--of-the-line camera. Lets get that straight. The optics are what I expected - fair to OK. They get the job done. Don't expect to read a license plate 150' away. There is a blur to distant objects. Even with resolution and quality set to high, but cameras has acceptable optics. The nice parts about this camera are:Easy configuration for Wi-Fi usage. I plugged this into my LAN home router/switch with the CAT5 port, did all my configuration via my laptop web browser, then unplugged it from my PoE LAN port, and once it rebooted, it came right up on Wi-Fi. Well done Alptop (or generic camera manufacturer). The configuration interface is simple, yet offers decent options and configuration. What I liked best were these last two items:The price can not be beat! $50 for an HD Wi-Fi camera is unheard of. I have 20 Hikvision cameras (same style- bullet type), and they are excellent at double the price, but no Wi-Fi. These require CAT5 links with PoE. That can get a little expensive to run wires and hardware if you have PoE switches. But these cameras work well for their price point. The best feature I found was this camera was plug-and-play with BlueIris security software. I could not believe how easy it was to get this camera operational. After buying (and returning) 3 prior Wifi cameras, this was by far the best. Worked straight out of the gate. The only thing I can not report on, which time will tell, is the durability and weatherabilty with this inexpensive outdoor camera- I hope it holds up, but I'm not holding my breath.**Update** 3/26/17I removed one of my cameras to replace it with a hardwired camera... no other reason then I like projects and I had a spare Hikvision, this Alptop still works!!I wanted to note that when I removed the camera, it had a lot of water in it. In my opinion, ANY water is a lot, but I had about 1/2 teaspoon of water. That's over 6 months. The camera was working just fine. I had no idea until it was sitting on my desk and I saw the fog/steam inside the unit lens. I opened it up and I was surprised to learn the following:*There is a gasket to seal the device, and think this is marginal. I think water could have snuck in there.*There are 3 screw that hold the unit together on the back. These screws have NO gasket or water seal prevention. So as my camera was outdoors in the elements, I found one screw was VERY rusted, I believe water crept in via the screw hole.*The brass antenna screw that passes through the casing to the outside has a very enexpensive brass washer, and can not be considered water tight at all. I believe this is another place for water to penetrate.I plan to apply small amounts of silicone (or similar) sealant to the 3 screw holes, around the rubber gasket that holds the unit together, and also around the brass antenna mounting screw (not getting on the antenna mounting threads of course).I had said these are decent cameras, and they are. But you get what you pay for. A little added preventative maintenance on these with some silicone and they should last a long time.
