He Loves It
I sent this toy off to our grandson (age 2) and I heard that he loves it. I have not seen the toy in action yet but I will update my review when I do.Update:We have been so please with this toy and the endless fun it provided our grandson that shortly after purchasing the one we sent to his parents, we purchased a second one for him to play with our house. And all though our grandson, now 3.5 has nearly outgrown both of his amazing roller derbies, it toy is remain on our shelves and big hit with our other young visitors who stop by to visit. My only regret was that I didn't come across this toy until Owen was two, I am sure he would have loved it sooner. Additionally, I often recommend Hape's Totally Amazing Derby to the young moms I work with and friends with young children. It is a amazing toys and it built with quality materials that will ensure this toy is in tip top shape for many years to come.

Well Made, Fun for Child and Adult
A really fun and simple ball ramp that is appealing to children and adults. Balls are big enough to be safe, but small enough that little hands can manage them. The bell at the bottom is of particular interest to the young ones. Well made, but adults will need to keep a hand on it to keep it from tipping over as the young ones learn to set the balls in the ramp.

Engaging for a 22 month old and 3 year old!
My 3 years old and almost 2 year old love this! We bought it for them for Christmas, but let them play with it the day before Thanksgiving to give mom extra time to cook. They played with it honestly for 2 hours straight, took a break for a bit and went back for another hour. Why I think it's great: there is just enough color to pull them in and get them playing, but the toy is neutral enough that I don't feel cluttered by it. The ball ramps are on both sides, so my children can easily play together. Each one had their own side. The developmental benefits of this toy are numerous. What I would change: I wish the little yellow starting platform was a bit bigger. My 22 month old struggled to get the ball started. However, he did on;y get the one day to play with it before we packed it up for Christmas. I am thinking he'll figure it out within a week of playing largely because his big sister will show him. He can set the ball on one of the three metal ramps and get the ball rolling there. If I had paid $40, I think I would wish there were more than three balls...but I got this on a lightning sale for $20 and am THRILLED. If I catch a sale like that again, I will seriously stock up and bring this to every birthday party we attend for a child turning 1-3. If I couldn't find a lightening sale, personally I'd pay about $30 and feel good about my purchase.

Nice toy but too expensive
this is a really cute idea- we love how the ball goes back and forth on either side. i also like that it is wood and it is sturdy, and it is fairly large (which can be a plus or minus depending on your space- i think us americans always think bigger is better, but really babies do not care!). the little bell at the end is actually a bit quiet, which i think is nice. it is just a nice little "ting!" but nothing jarring or obnoxious.the first ledge is wooden, but the other little ledges are plastic, by the way. i know some people are super picky about things being 100% wood or natural. just fyi.i think this is typical hape quality- pretty good.not like plan toys or something you would find in nova naturals or some waldorf catalog, but it is still nice. i prefer the more muted, traditional coloring of plan toys over the bright/modern/trendy paint job of most hape products, but this is okay.however, i still think the price is too much to justify $40. after all, it is simply a piece of wood with a few designs and some wires. i got it as a warehouse deal for less than thirty five dollars and i still feel like i overpaid. however, my one year old LOVES ball drop toys. so i am knocking off a star for that.at least it will last for years!

VERY well made…
Our son likes it (of course, he always likes anything new), and it is VERY well made (I would much rather pay more, for something that is well made. …and will stand up to a toddler!)The balls (marbles (large)) are hard, but fortunately, he has not tried to throw them (or hit me with them!)I recommend this item. It is well made, and will last!

Great find for curious babies!
This toy was an unexpected treasure! So many ways a baby can enjoy and learn! The ball goes in at the top, rolls down a blue ramp to a blue hole, comes through to a green ramp with a green hole, goes down a red ramp to a red hole and hits a (not loud) bell and ends on a storage ramp.My baby spends so much time trying to put the ball in different color holes. If the ramp is going down it goes in and continues on its way. If the ramp is going up, it comes back towards him.The little bell makes him happy too. My baby is 10 months old and can do this toy by himself. The balls are large enough to not be a choking hazard. The whole thing has soft edges, so if a baby were to pull up and fall on it, there wouldn't be any major concerns. It does tip when my baby tries to use it to stand, but usually not the whole way over.I think they should move the age range on this toy to 9m-3. Although my 3.5 year old has been playing with it too.

Well made and entertaining toy
I have had this toy in mind for a while now. Purchased it for our infant to grow into and our boys, 2, 4, and even our 9 yr old sits down to play with it for a bit!!! Shocked me that’s for sure! Can’t wait for the babe to grow a little bit more so she can enjoy it as well! The quality of wood and finish outdoes any other brand I’ve seen. This toy will last a very long time. Hopefully we can keep track of the wooden balls!

Buy this toy!
The media could not be loaded. We bought this for our baby at 8 months and he was fascinated watching us drop the ball and was obsessed when it hit the little bell at the bottom. He’s now 10 months and he can drop the balls on his own and it’s still one of his favorite toys. Definitely worth the cost. Very high quality. Highly recommend!

Bright beautiful colours, great quality - another brilliant product from Hape!
I just adore Hape products, they are quite simply excellent in terms of sturdiness, sheerness and overall quality. They look brand new after years of use and unlike other brands that offer wooden products they are completely safe and smooth to touch for little ones being beautifully finished. I recommend this product in particular as keeping my little ones entertained for a good length of time and it’s a toy that regularly gets played with in our house. Bright colours, improves hand eye coordination and it’s just a bit different to anything else out there! Very smart looking toy too, nice to keep out on display, another excellent buy from Hape. Highly recommend!!!
