## Questions & Answers

**Q: i want to run in my car a small 12 volt fan to keep the heat down during the day can this 2.5 watt solar charger keep my battery from running out**
A: It depends, of course, on the power requirements of the fan and the available sunlight. This unit will provide about 0.18 amps of current flow at 12 volts with a reasonable amount of sunlight during the day. For the application you described, it might be best to hook this unit directly to your fan, bypassing the battery. In this manner, there would be zero chance of running down your battery -- at night the fan won't run and on really heavily overcast days it will run at reduced speed or not at all; which would not be a problem since solar heating would not be an issue.

**Q: Is it possible that the circuit of the car will prevent charging if I connect the unit to constant 12v in car instead of directly to the battery?**
A: By 'constant' I think you mean it is always connected to the battery. If the connecting point normally provides 12 volts regardless of the ignition key position, then it should charge anytime. If the connection point is disconnected from power when the ignition is off, then it won't charge.

**Q: My 5w that i just got 2/2018 is outputting 26v when connected to a voltmeter. is this correct?**
A: Open circuit (no load attached), that's right.. 24-26V.

**Q: I need to extend the wires so I can charge my boat battery while in storage. Will adding 15' of wire impact the performance?**
A: This charger puts out a very small current, only about an eigth of an amp (.18), so you do not need a thick wire (like 8 guage which would be vast overkill for this application), but you don't want to use an extremely thin one either. 18 or 20 guage is probably adequate. Given the choice of wires available choose the thicker one. Another common potential way to loose power in your situation is that every time you have to put more wire connectors into the mix you may create unwanted resistance. Ideally you would have one set of wires connecting directly to the battery on one end and directly to the charger on the other. If it's to be permanent, it's best to use a more permanent connection to the battery than alligator clips. You also want the wire itself to be just the right length, without a lot of extra length coiled up, since it's tye actual wire length that adds resistance, not the distance between battery and charger.

    breeze setup Updated 2-11-19

*by C***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2019*

I Dont no if this works yet or not but I'll update once I find out and use it for awhile. I just wanted to let ppl know that although this says it has an led indicator light on 12v cigarette lighter plug in the description and instructions, it actually does NOT have one. So u can read tell if its working or if u have a "live" plug in ur car. U just have to already know that ur plug is live cuz otherwise u can't tell unless u have a Voltameter. Otherwise unboxing and setup is a breeze. You just plug it all in and ur ready to go whether its plugging it into ur cig lighter or hooking it to ur battery, all the wires are included along with suction cups that are a little weak holding it to the panel, they are strong holding it to ur window but holding it to the panel itself is a little touchy u gotta really screw them in hard and even still they don't stick into the panel very strongly so either prop it up w something else just in case like ur visor or stick it the other way or screw it in, unless of course u use some glue to glue the suction cups to the panel itself. Its up to u I guess. I just used my visor to help hold it up just in case. But the panel itself looks good and so far so good.UDATE: This thing works! And works great, I didn't start my car for a week and we had a serious winter storm I had this plugged in the whole time I went and tried my car and it started right up! I love this and recommend it fully!

    So far, so good!

Installed this for the first time today, so way too early to tell how it actually works in the field, so this is mostly an observation as to build quality, ease of mounting, etc. We're using it to keep the main starter battery topped off during the winter months when our Sprinter van sits idle. Trickle charge is the name of the game, and we're comparing this to the Sunco 1.8 watt trickle charger that we purchased at the same time to do the same thing for my son's Ford E-250. Will update in a few months. In both cases, we are plugging directly into an always active 12 volt cigarette lighter socket. So far, the Sunco is neat because it is considerably smaller for storage when not in use, but the Noco is hardly overly large. The Sunco came in difficult to open shrink wrap packaging that will be difficult (but not impossible) to reuse for storage when not in use. The Noco's packaging is more re-usable friendly. The Sunco seems of cheaper construction overall, but perfectly adequate for use inside a windshield--they are careful to specify that it is NOT weatherproof. The Sunco mounting suction cups are very, very small, and in spite of pre-cleaning the inside of the windshield and applying a bit of moisture to the cups, did not hold well, but ultimately are holding adequately. The Noco's cups are substantial--the challenge here was mounting them to the unit, as the nubby ends did not easily penetrate and lock into place. A bit of experimentation worked, and using a small screwdriver or the tip of the ignition key to manipulate the nub from side to side while applying pressure to the suction cup from the other side yielded positive results, and the nubs have all snapped into place securely. The construction overall seems much better, and they advise applying a bead of silicon if you're going to use it outdoors, but it is intended for outdoor use. A very nice feature is that there are two led lights--one on the cord of the charging unit, so you can tell that it is functioning, and the other on the cigarette lighter plug in cord, so you can verify that it is live.
