Shyness can be crippling in childhood and later in life. Shy children, in addition to dealing with daily anxiety, also miss out in so many ways, refraining from joining their friends in fun activities. Author Mary Nhin, in her newest release I the Ninja Life Hacks Series, "Shy Ninja: A Children's Book About Social Emotional Learning and Overcoming Social Anxiety," provides young readers tools that may help them overcome their hesitance in social situations and give them the ability to interact with other children.As true with all of author Nhin's creations, this book also provides parents and children's caregivers in general a conversation starter for discussions of issues and an opportunity to encourage self-awareness and build self-confidence in the kids they love.

Shy Ninja never participates in activities. She is afraid of being wrong, being made fun of, or unable to complete the task.On the school bus, Kind Ninja senses how Shy Ninja feels. She offers her a three-step plan to overcome her shyness. Step One is to Focus on her breathing. Once that is under control, she can move to Step Two. In Step Two, Shy Ninja Uses positive thoughts to focus on her fears. Then it is easy to implement Step Three, which is to Nudge her fears away and actively participate. Remembering Fun, Focus and Nudge will help shy children.This adorable picture book is part of the Ninja series which encourages preschool and elementary children to overcome the fears that hold them back in their emotional development.

This Ninja Lifehacks Book was of particular interest to me because my son can struggle with shyness and social anxiety. I think that the FUN technique that is taught in this book could really help him to push through when he feels shyness setting in. The “N” in the FUN technique stands for Nudge and it refers to giving yourself the little push to move forward after you have used the other “F” and “U” strategies to calm down and build up your courage. I know that I’m always telling my son to “fake it til he makes it” when he has to do something scary because I find that it helps me to pretend I’m brave even if I don’t feel brave at that moment. I think that is essentially what the Nudge part is getting at and sure enough, once you get through something once, it becomes easier each successive time. In summary, this is another great book for teaching real life strategies for success to our kiddos. You should definitely get it and read it with your kiddos!

Another wonderful book by Mary Nhin. Shy Ninja shows that being shy can keep you from doing things you love. Using the "FUN" method can help kids with social anxiety become a social butterfly. Fear of embarrassment or of not knowing how to make friends can easily be rectified with a little self confidence. Shy NInja is a great tool with helpful notes at the back of the book to help build self confidence. Highly recommended.

I love reading this series to my grandkids. The FUN method is something all parents should teach their kids. It helps kids out when they feel nervous to breath and use positive mantra's, and the nudge part is putting aside your fears. I love how this author adds very helpful information for children in her books.

If SHY is who you are, by nature, I do not think it is necessarily a bad thing. But if that shyness prevents you from being happy and or successful in meeting your goals, having a method like FUN to overcome some inhibitions is a great tool!

Another in this series for me to savor. My little one is so shy and this was a great book for us to go through. Just love it !!

As someone who suffers from shyness hit home for me! I'm going to try the FUN method! Can not love this author enough! She is amazing and hits on everyday topics that kids struggle with daily!

Of all these lovely ninja books, this story about Shy Ninja resonated most with me, as I was always a shy child. The simple story introduces kids (and adults) to the “FUN” way to tackle shyness - Focus (on breathing) / Use (positive mantras) / Nudge (your fears aside). An easy to remember method, which will hopefully help many kids overcome crippling shyness and allow them to enjoy being themselves and doing things that they may otherwise have ended up missing out on. A great book for any shy child you know (or even adults needing a simple technique to help with social anxiety issues).
