Are these non-smudge when using with a straight edge or protractor? I draw custom geometric designs for book covers and I'm tired of smudges.

It is like a rollerball gel ink so until it dries it would smudge

I always store mine "cap up" so the ink flows away from the tip. Never really had that problem.
