Intellectual Head Cheese for Horror Cinema Scholars; Recommended, Fine One-Stop Volume on TCSM & Its Legacy
The Devil's Advocate book series continues with this damn-near-definitive book on Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel's THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE (1974), and James Rose does a fine job digging into his chosen subject, covering the gestation, production, release(s), and legacy of one of the most effective and infamous horror films of the late 20th century. Recommended reading, though I have one caveat: I only wish there were more primary source materials (pre-2000) involved, but that's a symptom of 21st century horror academia in general, alas.

Enjoyable & simple to read
Really great book for fans of the film. Looks at the many possible meanings of the film and how beautifully crafted it is underneath the gritty surface.
