This gorgeous ink was EXACTLY what I wanted. I was making a Halloween themed pasta dish, and it made my pasta black as midnight. It also had a surprisingly pleasant taste, but was so subtle, it didn't disrupt the sauce, which overran it completely. Cheaper than squid ink, and honestly, I like it better!

Cuddlefish squid ink was utilized by the Chef in the recipe we made as a group at a San Sebastián Spain cooking class. Back in the US I made the recipe at home with this cuttlefish squid ink! Biribil (mean perfect in Basque language)

Have tried it twice already, once in a paella and once in ramen, and I have been a bit disappointed in the product, as it only had mild, briny flavor, not the full "taste of the sea" the squid ink flavors I am accustomed too. Glad i only bought the smaller jar to sample - tho it was a lot more expensive per ounce. Stlll. it is not flavorless, and I guess I would have to say "it is better than nothing." Some have commented that it seems to spoil rapidly once opened. I believe there might be some truth to that. In my case, 5 days after first opening the jar, i noticed a more pungent odor from the jar. To combat it, I placed a piece of plastic wrap into the jar and pressed it down to contact the liquid so as to reduce the amount of oxygen in the opened jar that could lead to quicker spoilage. Hope it works.
