A guide to Tibetan Buddhist meditation practices
If you want to learn more about Tibetan spirituality, you need to read this book. You'll also need to read it multiple times, as there will be information you'll get with each reading. This book is especially important if you are doing these spiritual practices as it will provide information that will help you refine those practices. I found the introduction helpful as well in terms of providing cultural context to how these practices are passed on. I do recommend multiple readings as some things may not click in place the first time, and I also recommend reading other books and doing the practices to get further insights into this work.

Not Tsongkapa's Commentary
This is the translators commentary on the Great Tsongkapa's book. Our translator provides only small snippets of the translated text; mostly he provides commentary of the text. It would be great if the translated text in its entirety were included somewhere in this book, but alas.

This is an important Buddhist text that should be read by serious students
Glenn Mullen does a very good job translating a most important text dealing with using subtle mind and body energies for greater awareness of the co-emergence of emptiness and form in all it's myriad emanations. Consider this book as a reference companion to The Bliss of Inner Fire by Lama Yeshe who brings one into the Tummo practice with greater joy and depth. It's a good idea to already have a deep appreciation of generation stage practices before actually embarking on the completion stage. Practicing too hard can make you very confused and cause a lot of stress and possible ill health (Lung in Tibetan terms.)

Excellent book, one of the classic texts of Tibetan ...
Excellent book , one of the classic texts of Tibetan Buddhism. Translation is very clear and readable. This text is revered by all schools of Tibetan Buddhism, essential reading for Mahamudra.Written for advanced meditators who have trained for several years so it does not describe the simple practices,so its maybe not the best place to start learning meditation. But for those who want to take their meditation to higher levels its pure gold.

Hard to impliment
Some of the meditations require intense visualization ability, its not at all like meditating on the breath or body scans.
