Works Great In Texas Heat
What a GREAT addition to my workshop here in the Texas Hill Country. I have a 30'x40' spray foam insulated workshop, no A/C and have been going thru one of the hottest summers yet. My neighbor bought the smaller unit for his backyard porch and it wasn't bad, but just too small for my shop so I went for the largest one they had and I was NOT disappointed.Pros:This swamp cooler is big standing at 5'0" tall with the standard wheels it comes with, 43" wide and 24" deep. This unit has three controls, one for the water pump, fan speed (low, Med, High) and a control for the Vertical Oscillating Vanes that go back and forth from left to right. What you don't see and not listed in the manual is that it has two sets of Horizontal Vanes that you can adjust independently to blow air up and the second set of Vanes to blow up or down as well, so in my case, I can have one set of vanes blowing air up at my head so to speak and another set of vanes blowing air at my stomach so to speak. You have to be very careful trying to adjust these, because they are hard to adjust and they are plastic, so if you push too hard, you may break them, but once you get them in the position you want, it works great.Fan Speeds, Honestly, I only use the low speed and its enough to keep me comfortable while working. It can be 104 degrees outside and I am comfortable working in my shop for hours and only on the low speed, but I keep it pointed at me. My work area from the fan is about 15-25' and its comfortable enough once it gets going. Since my shop is rectangular in shape, and has a large area, so I turn on my attic fan to suck out the hot air and let the cool air from the fan circulate around the bottom area and it works out great. You can see by the picture that I lower my door just enough to allow it to get the air it needs to work and keep one back door slightly open to create the airflow it requires. The unit holds a lot of water, but you will go thru a lot of water during a hot summer day, so it has a little door in the front that you can add water with a hose or bucket and it the back it has a hose connection with a floater (like a toilet tank) that you set the hose on a low setting and it keeps the fan water level at what it needs.Putting together wasn't hard, you might need an extra set of hands to flip it over to put the wheels on and then use something to help prop up the unit once you have all the wheels on, so you don't put to much pressure on the wheels when you try to stand it up.Cons:The water matts are made of corrugated paper and when you first get it and start it up it stinks like a wet dog for a long time but its the paper getting wet, but once you use it a few times, the smell goes away. The weep holes on the top of the water matts are okay the closer they are to the pump, but the weep holes furthest away from the pump don't get water and they matt stays dry. I opened the unit and took the matts out and stuck a screw driver in the holes to see if something was blocking up the holes, but there was nothing there so I think the pump is not strong enough to push the water all the way over to the furthest points. Now, with this said, I put a level on my unit and it was perfectly level, so it wasn't that the unit was off balance, again, either this is left over plastic blocking the holes or the pump is just not strong enough to flood the area with enough water.Final evaluation - Regardless of the Con I listed, I would recommend and re-purchase this unit if I had too, it has really made my life in my workshop workable. I weld, and do repair on other things and I can do this comfortably now, even in this 104 degree weather. Is it A/C, NO, Not at all, but it brings the temp down so much and over about an hour of use, the whole shop is cooler and much more tolerable. Note: you will go thru water, so you will at some point have to refill or just connect a hose at a trickle and let it keep the unit full for you.I hope this helps out. Keep COOL my Friends!

Works great
Works great. It’s not going to cool like an ac but when working in a barn, point this towards the area you are working and enjoy the drop in temperature. Even in high(er) humidity environments like Texas, it’s better than any size fan that blows nothing but hot air around.Lots of talk about the castors - I think they are fine. Easy to put on and roll just fine. This unit needs to be on a very level floor to maximize the water flowing over the media. If it’s not level, you’ll see dry areas in the media.I don’t know why there is a rating for a remote. I never saw one in the unit I received.

Junk
Ordered the biggest one available. Received it and was broken. (Shipping damage) Received my second one and the media pads aren’t getting fully wet, which doesn’t cool the air correctly. Contacted hessair and they said it was a pump. To do x,y, and z to get a replacement. I didn’t have time for all that, so I buy a bigger pump than original, install, and doing same exact thing. Had to be a block at the top. Now I have a choice, return and try a third or pull apart on my very busy (hot) day and see what’s going on. Not worth the $1300.

Worked great for 2 years
Cools very well with awesome air flow! You can feel it from up to 25 feet away when on high. Worked great here in the central valley of California up till the temps go over 102°, then efficiency drops considerably. But it's an evaporative cooler and they all do at those temps. This unit is very light and easy to move around on hard dirt if empty of water, and if full of water on concrete. It is not loud if on low, but on high you have to raise your voice if you are within 10 feet of it. My only real gripe is the motor rusted after only one cooling season and now is locked up after only 2 cooling seasons. If the additional 4 year warranty covers the motor then it would be well worth the extra money because the replacement motor costs more than the warranty does. Did not expect this to rust so fast being a motor supposedly designed for a damp environment, I expected the metal to be more rust resistant and was surprised that it was an open housing motor (you can see the windings) and not sealed. It is obviously not a motor designed for wet / damp environment. My other recommendation is to take a drill bit the same size as the original holes where the water drips from the top channel onto the pads and redrill / ream them out then blow out with compressed air. The manufacturing process of drilling out these holes seems to leave lots of plastic remnants which slow down or block entirely the steady stream of water. Removal of the top cover during this process will ensure that all plastic shavings are removed and can not continue to clog the holes. Other than that, it worked great, while it worked. Overall, I think it is overpriced for the quality. One could purchase a residential side draft swamp cooler for 800 dollars and with a few modifications (garden hose connection for water fill valve, caster wheels), would have a better quality product that's going to last much longer, albeit much heavier and not as portable!

4 Star Product
warehouse and home patio are the main uses. Cooler works excellent and I am very pleased with its cool air performance. The wheels under it are less than adequate as they are poorly made and, when full with water it cannot be moved easily. I sent this information to the mfg. and they sent a new set of wheels, however, it's been weeks and they still have not arrived????????? The small door in the front of the unit where the unit can be filled with a bucket or pail falls off and lands inside the water storage below. I have had to fish it out 2 times and I never use this door as I use a water hose connection provided to feed the float system that works well. it will fall off If you just touch it. What a shame that these petty little issues take away from the excellent produce that it truly is. I purchased it to cool the areas where I work and it does an exceptional job.
