HOPE- Beth Alison Maloney
Beth Alison Maloney has written the first book to help identify PANDAS and PANS in an easy to read format. Look at the cover with swings and what do you see? Missing children...her book is to help doctors and parents to see those "missing" children. These children have missed time in their life by not having the correct diagnosis. She fought for her son Sammy and saved his life. (Saving Sammy) Mrs. Maloney is paying it forward by providing crucial insight on how to help children with missed strep infections. Her latest book proves to me a true labor of love to help all of these children. The book is filled with interviews from people in the field. I have purchased books and given them to anyone that their child may have PANDAS/PANS as well as the pediatrician's office, school teachers, school nurses and anyone else who will listen. This book does not lack anything. She made sure that she would provide the right tools for all of us. It is now up to the reader to decide how to proceed. She is an tireless advocate for these children. Her gift of time writing this book is priceless. Any question you may have about PANDAS/PANS she has answered. Look her up on FaceBook and you can also see the positive conversations. Also visit her website BethAlisonMaloney.com. You have nothing to lose by reading this book...everything to gain. Purchase this book and get your child back and receive the answers you have been desperately seeking. The next cover will be our children sitting in the swings..... Blessings to you, Beth Alison Maloney. You make this world a better place.

do actually happen every day to good people with critically ill children
Ms. Maloney has done the world a service with the writing of this book. Every parent of a PANS/PANDAS or OCD child should own a copy. I bought a second copy so that I would have it to lend out without loosing my tattered and marked up original. I only wish I had found this book earlier. The horrors she warns of, do actually happen every day to good people with critically ill children. We became trapped in a hospital that did not believe in the that PANS/PANDAS was a "real thing". First this means that they would not treat her for what was wrong, second they tried to seize custody, and third they almost killed her. If you are reading this review, you have questions. This is a great place to find them. Don't wait another minute buy the book. It's a bargain that will save you hundreds to thousands of dollars in medical, therapy, and even legal bills. In the end, money has very little to do with it. I would give almost anything to take back those weeks we lost trapped and abused in the wrong medical facility. Thank you Ms. Maloney.

excellent, prescriptive & thorough guide for parents, health care providers and educators
This book is an excellent, thorough, and prescriptive guide for parents of kids with P.A.N.D.A.S.. Anyone who interacts with children needs access to this information. We only found resolution for our daughter's frightening illness because a local provider had been given Ms. Maloney's first book, "Saving Sammy", a few weeks before he encountered us in crisis. I've since read this one also, and have requested that my local library purchase both of these books. Recently, when I went back to look through all of the books' indexes in the library's pediatric mental health section (where i had searched tenaciously for clues to figure out my daughters sudden severe ailment) I found NO mention whatsoever in ANY of them of this possibility of step infection in the brain, or of the term P.A.N.D.A.S. I had a sinking feeling as I could see myself back then, and probably countless other desperate mothers and fathers right at this moment, searching everywhere that this information should be available, but for whatever convoluted reasons, it is not. Physical health care providers, mental health care providers, parents, teachers, special ed workers, counselors, childcare workers, all need access to this information to help the children who are needlessly suffering with this very treatable illness. Buy this book for everyone you know who cares.

Bio-Infections/Neuro Functions Robbed -Time for ALL to Know!
An incredible book created by Beth Alison Maloney with medical information from doctors and professionals. It is one that I have been waiting for. It is the best and only complete guide for parents to treating this total crippling condition called PANDAS/PANS that exist. It gives an individual, their family and medical doctors answers and direction in navigating this very complex autoimmune neuropsychiatric biological disorder. It can helps parents/caregivers/doctors to what to do, when to and where to find help in coping when this devastating condition strikes an individual. It is a most have book for parents, teachers, nurses, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and hospital administrators. This book gives hope for an individual when facing this horrible condition. Knowing this information along with the correct medical support, it can help these individuals feel better; for others a possible cure/recovery that they can start living again.

We are all different in this...
This is an educational book, no doubt, but I don't believe that the way she treated it is the only way to handle it. If I gave my daughter years of antibiotics, we'd be destroying her gut and she's already fragile with that anyway. Talk about opening up a can of other problems compounding. Not going in that direction. We've seen plenty of posts over the past few years that indicate that a lot of these IVIG and antibiotic treatments ultimately were not that effective. Every kid is different too, so what works for one, may not work for another. If I've learned anything about this "new epidemic" it would be that one size definitely does not fit all concerning treatment. We're going homeopathic, but yes, the book was okay on teaching about PANDAS for sure. I skimmed over her book Saving Sammy too, but couldn't/didn't want to focus on his journey anymore, so put both books away, and visualized our situation more clearly as it is for us. It is not the same as the author's experience with her son, and we are so grateful it's not as severe.

The book has a comprehensive overview of the latest medical understanding of Pandas and advice for how to most effectively find the right doctors and chose the treatments that should lead to a cure.

One mum's quest for treatment
I found this book to be most informative. It has been a tremendous aid in helping me push for the right level of care for my son who recently presented with complex tics. Unfortunately, PANDAS does not appear to be regarded as a genuine medical condition here in London, in my experience so far. My son has had two lots of blood tests done at my local NHS hospital and neither tests included testing for Strep A. We had to get him tested privately two weeks ago, which showed no current infection (OSE test) but that one may have occurred recently (DNase-B test). My son also suffers from hives and IgE testing revealed high allergy to grass mix. In essence, this book gave me good insight on some of the potential challenges to expect and what to do to pushback for appropriate care. As mentioned somewhere in the book anti DNA blood test is not the same as Anti-DNase B test as we had this happen to us too. Thanks to Beth for pointing this out in the book as we would have been non the wiser. We now have a number of appointments lined up for the new year and I wish parents with children suffering from this condition the very best in their pursuit of timely and appropriate treatment.

Five stars
I read saving Sammy two years ago. It is an amazing, emotional, and extremely informative book for anyone who has, or suspects that their child has pandas. Childhood interrupted is factual and gives parents a very real Insight into the awful way an infection can cause such dreadful symptoms. My grandchildren brother and sister have pandas . They are ages 11 and 6. This is a truly dreadful illness for anyone to see first hand, then after my grandchildren were treated with the necessary antibiotics mentioned in this book they improved daily. They both have a return of their symptoms if they are around people who are sick, or they are stressed about anything. Please read this book.
