Johnstones Woodcare One Coat Shed & Fence Paint Garden Outdoor Fencing UV Protection Quick Dry 3 Year Life (9L - Golden Chestnut)

My long garden fence needed re-coating, and I couldn't get my usual paint due to the Covid lockdown. Got this instead. Strange to start with. Very gel-like in consistency, so I didn't even try to spray it - also no mention of spray application on the container. So, brushes ready. Stir well. The I found you can actually dip a brush into it and the brush will come out nearly clean - you need to wiggle the brush back and forth to load the paint on, an easy thing to do once you realise. Goes on easy. At first I thought it wasn't covering at all, particularly on less-absorbent wood, but it rapidly took on a pink colour which I hated. However, as it dried the pink faded completely and it became the Chestnut colour it was supposed to be. Very impressed with coverage. Rougher wood will absorb the paint better than smooth wood, so will also get better blemish-covering than the smooth wood. When dry it does an excellent job of repelling water which just seems to 'bead' and run off.

Bought this one afternoon and it was delivered the following morning. Left it in the box for three days then opened the box and started painting the fence in the back garden. Very pleased with the colour and, as it says on the tin, one coat was enough. Have already recommended it to my son. The nine litre container was just enough to paint our fence and it took my husband three days to complete. Would definitely recommend to others.

I was desperate to get my hands on some fence paint. Couldn't get it anywhere, then I seen it on Amazon. Never used Johnson's before and it was overpriced. I decided to just go for it. It was a really good paint. Easy to use, and a lot thicker than other paints I have used and it dried in a great shade. Can't say how long it will last, but judging on the stain it left on my top, I think it will last.

Too expensive. I have found it in Tesco for a fraction of the price

I liked the product but found that I could buy it for 11.00 where as I paid 49.00 for it. Gutted 😭

Don't judge an old book by its new cover! More about the new-fangled container later, but first I have the pleasure of reviewing the paint itself.Unlike other leading / DIY store own brands, you do not end up with a dead jellyfish in a pool of coloured water, which no amount of stirring will re-amalgamate! What you have here is paint with a thick, creamy uniform texture which goes on easily with very little dripping. This is a quality product which really does cover in one coat. Do not waste time and money on anything cheaper which will most likely split as soon as you start to use it and drip all over the place.Now then, about those changed containers. I was actually quite happy to receive 2 x sub - 5 ltr tubs rather than the 1 x 9 ltr I ordered - until I looked more closely. The snap bands were missing and the lids taped on where the snap bands should be. Furthermore the lids were still embossed with the instruction " to remove unsnap all the way round and lift off" - but there were no bands there to remove! Such a glaring error got me thinking about counterfeit goods but a quick communication to Johnstones Customer Services put my mind at rest. Yes - they have changed the specification for their containers. I was tempted to knock a star off on account of this but on reflection stayed with five because of the excellence of the paint itself.

This is the second tub of paint I’ve bought and both times delivery was very quick and the packaging is excellent, I’ve never bought anything where the packaging was so good. Would recommend paint my fence looks magic and I would recommend this company

Garden shed, fencing. It is a top product! Previous products gave maybe one year 's protection, I've just repainted the shed after 3 years! Living on the exposed west coast of Scotland, we get WEATHER full on, and getting 3 years out of one application is definitely worth mentioning. A bit more expensive than some other well known ones but worth every penny. I'm happy 😊
