Unassailable If You Assemble & Mount Correctly (No Extra Hardware Needed)
These baffles are UNASSAILABLE if you assemble and mount them correctly!First you need ti know the collars are very effective but they have different sized threading holes and you just assemble them correctly or you’ll need nuts for the screws. Thread the screw *first* through the larger diameter hole on the collar assembly and then through the smaller hole at the end/base of the screw. This will secure the screw. Do this on each side, with the screws facing opposite directions. Fasten tightly (ALL the way down). No creature should be able to pull down the collars or the baffle if you do this. No need to buy different hardware. These were designed correctly but lack proper instructions.Second, the baffle height is critical. They must be mounted a minimum of 48” off the ground and no more than 55”. Additionally, your feeder poles must be set away from any structure or vegetation that can allow a squirrel or raccoon to jump, climb, or launfy themselves above the baffles. If you think they won’t try hundreds of times until they get it right - you haven’t been birding long enough, lol.The squirrels and raccoons really enjoyed the series of baffles I previously installed in vain (disc-shaped, wrap-around comes, beautiful glass baffles I was hoping would work so I could see my birds while thwarting the marauders) but ONLY these torpedo style baffles are truly effective. These solid baffles are great if your poles come apart and can thread through a solid tube. If you have one-piece/solid poles &/or or can’t remove the shepherd’s’ hooks, you’ll want the the metal torpedo baffles by Panacea which are identical to the solid Audubon Society brand here (except the Panacea are two halves that wrap around and lock together for solid, shepherd’s hook poles) and these are sold at the big blue W-Mart for half the price (help finding it on that website here: “Panacea-Products-Metal-Pole-Mount-15-Squirrel-Baffle-Black/579702637”). These 15” torpedo style baffles are the ONLY things that have worked for us.Sticky Label: yes, the Audubon Society labels are THE WORST but isopropyl alcohol and a lot of elbow grease will finally remove the residue. The wrap-around style baffles by Panacea have an easy-off residue-free peel label that the Audubon Society ought to copy.

Stopper
It keeps away all the unwanted rodents and I keep more seed for the birds

Great baffle
Quick and easy to install, have not seen any animal (snake, racoon, possum, squirrel) get by this baffle on bird feeder (on 3/4" black gas pipe) in over 4 years . . . so bought 2 more for new blue bird boxes.

Excellent squirrel baffle
These squirrel baffles work beautifully! I had hoped to see some acrobatics as the squirrels and chipmunks tried to get around them, but they gave up immediately. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because, as noted by other reviewers, the screw threading on the hardware to attach it to the pole doesn't work. A quick trip to the hardware store to purchase a bolt and nut solved the problem.

Saving baby birds!
I now have these baffles under each of my 6 bird houses. -- Though the houses are 6 - 8 ft off the ground (mounted on metal poles), the raccoons have shimmied up and pulled out babies, eggs & entire nests. I started with 2 baffles a couple of years ago, and those birdhouses have stayed predator-free. This year, 3 of the remaining 4 houses had raccoon attacks within a few days of each other & the parent birds lost everything. Since the baffles have been put in place, my houses are all full & SAFE. The second clutch of eggs have mostly hatched & now parent birds are busy feeding their young... The baffles themselves are nicely made & a cinch to put up. The 2 I bought a couple of years ago still look like new. No rust, no peeling. I especially like the look of this particular shape - it's not huge & gaudy like the short, wide cone baffles. And the short gaudy cone baffles I have under my feeders - both have huge amounts of rust. I'll be swapping those out for this baffle soon! These ARE pricier, but all-in-all, they're holding up so well & still look good! No raccoons or snakes can sneak by these!

Good in theory, not so good in practice
The idea behind this baffle is very good, and it appears to be effective. But a few small defects, things that could easily be corrected, compromise its usefulness. First, just a few more inches in height would make adjustments so much easier. I have known squirrels to jump up 4'. I have my feeders suspended from a wire strung between two iron poles. The baffle has to be high enough that the squirrel can't jump to the pole above it, but low enough that it can't jump from the pole over to a feeder. Just a few more inches would make this adjustment so much easier. Second, the clip that holds the baffle in place on the pole is totally useless on smooth black iron poles. The screws simply will not tighten enough to grip the pole tightly. The best you can do is remove the soft plastic collar to you can get a little more tightening on the metal. Even then, beware of the screws. I have a wide variety of Philips bits, and none would grab in the screw head without camming out the soft steel. You have to use a straight blade screwdriver. Good luck with that. If you are trying to deter raccoons, they will be heavy enough to make the baffle slide down the pole. Be prepared to spring for another $10 per baffle to get a clamp that will hold tight enough to be effective. If the manufacturer would add another few inches to the height of the baffle, and if he weren't so cheap with the clamp, this would be an outstanding gadget As it is, it is just three-star mediocre.

Undefeatable if installed correctly.
These torpedo squirrel baffles work great!!! They MUST be located at least 3 feet above the ground otherwise squirrels can defeat them by jumping higher than the baffle. Also as other reviewers have stated, the clamp that comes with the baffle does not clamp tight enough to the shepherds hook pole. I have found it helpful to add a worm drive hose clamp just below the factory clamp to prevent the factory clamp from sliding down the pole. I have used torpedo squirrel baffles for several years now and have never had a squirrel defeat them provided you keep it high enough - minimum of at least 3 feet or more above the ground.
