On activation, the bulb came on to full brightness but then, within a second, dimmed to half brightness. The bulb should come on and stay on at a consistent brightness level. I’ve always put in one of the Smile effervescent tablets or a less expensive “denture cleaner” tablet and my retainer is always super fresh and sparkly clean after about 5 minutes of bubbling and UV light. I’m glad I read reviews before purchase to be aware that the lid breaks off rather easily so I’ve been super-careful during set-up and wiping out the machine after use. Despite my care, the lid is starting to crack at the hinges so I’m not sure how much longer it’ll last. I found this one and apparently didn't read through enough reviews to see that the issue that I had is a very common issue. I have literally not used this thing for a full month and you see what has happened this morning. I noticed a small crack the very 1st day I used it, I thought it was odd because I've been very gentle with it I've never picked it up by the lid, never slammed the lid down, etc. I was so excited to use it and it does work really well that I thought well I'll just be extremely gentle moving forward and it won't get any worse. I was wrong. That tiny little small crack kept getting bigger and bigger. Today a big chunk just completely fell off. Wires are exposed. I realized I should have contacted customer service sooner but as it usually goes life has been extremely busy with sick kids and family members in the hospital that my aligners cleaner wasn't a top priority. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of customer service if you do not use smile direct Club and have an account with them. I've left an email and I'm hoping to hear back soon and will update after my issue gets resolved.
