This thing actually works and is a snap to put in and take out. I was actually surprised how well it worked.

I primarily bought this cargo bar so I could keep gasoline or diesel cans from sliding to the front of the truck bed. It works fine for that. I had been using tie downs formerly to do this which I found to be a hassle. I can even install this behind my swing out side boxes. I don't need to swing them out of the way or remove them in order to put the cargo bar in place. I do have to crawl into the bed in order to install the bar behind the side boxes. I can't do this while standing on the ground with tail gate in open position. That's the good part. It is very much a hassle to retract the cargo bar in order to remove it from it's locked position. I see no way to reverse the ratcheting action. I ended up putting a small screwdriver behind the spring loaded ratchet lock so that I could retract the bar. The manufacturer of the cargo bar could have easily extended the tabs on this ratchet lock long enough that you could then grasp the lock with your fingers and press it away from the cam. It would make the release of the bar so much easier! I can't make a comment on the net as I don't really plan on using the net for my intended purpose of using it on fuel cans.

I wanted something to keep stuff from sliding forward (especially grocery bags) in the bed and this works great. The added cargo net is very useful. It's easy to get stuff into and out of and, once full, also helps to keep stuff in place.The ratchet mechanism takes a bit of mastering, but once figured out now is easy to use. Added plus: the two end pads rotate, making it easy to use around the wheel well bump outs.Very pleased with this purchase.

Ratchet is cheaply made,

I bought two of these for my pickup to keep cargo from shifting around. Prevents cargo from sliding all the way to the front of the bed which requires me to climb into the bed to grab it (truck bed has a cap).If you understand how to use a ratchet strap, then using this will be a no brainer. The cargo net is a nice extra for smaller items that can roll in between the bars.Bars are perfect to prevent groceries from moving around as well.

While it’s a good idea to use this thing to organize trunk it is very poor quality. Ratcheting mechanism failed in first 10 seconds of use. You put any pressure/resistance on it and it just starts skipping tooth and not allowing to properly secure it between two surfaces.
