Review: Feature loaded and easy to use tool - This is a really great tester. Having the ability to identify lines when you have a bunch of drops was fantastic. I used it to debug a flaky line that had break near the connector. I could watch the lines drop in and out and identify the issue quickly. The built in remote (ID 1) is detached from the unit and checks phone, ethernet and coax. With this you can verify proper pair connectivity and wire length. The kit also came with 5 identifier units (ID1 - ID5) for both coax and ethernet, but these are only checking wire pair 3-6. I kinda wish they had given ID2 through ID6 and I could have used the main unit as an extra connectivity check, but 5 is better than 1. Unit is really solid and comfortable to hold. The display is simple, but easy to read and backlit on demand, so very useful when in the bottom of a wiring closet. This is a tool I wish I had gotten a long time ago. If you use a bnc to rg59 f-type connector and use the connectors with the kit that will give you the connectivity you need. **Q: Can you use hub blink on a poe switch?** A: Although the instructions say "NOTE: DO NOT attempt to use Hub Blink function when connected to a Power over Ethernet (PoE) active port", a switch will not apply PoE power unless it first detects a PoE compatible device. We tested the Klein Scout Pro 3 tester hub blink tool on our PoE switch and it worked fine. **Q: Can someone confirm if this will test cables with a bnc connector or sdi cables?** A: Unit ships with adapters to test Coax (RG5x/6x) and Ethernet. You would need to purchase an RG to BNC adapter (which cost about $1 US each). Klein may have a version that ships with BNC adapters.
