Visual Grammar: A Design Handbook (Design Briefs)

Simply amazing
One of the best books I have purchased in recent times. I bought it since I needed some definitions of design terms for my students but I am amazed how nice looking it is. You have all the terms explained in one or two sentences and a visual display to go with them.

Read this book If you want to know what you are doing as a designer
Takes the guessing out of layout design and offers a precise language that helps the designer analyse existing visual compositions and build successful new ones.

visual book for the visual language
Never ever came across such a visual book about visual design. It approaches design theory so easily and so so visually that one never feels boredom that is many a times synonymous with theory books. I had to create a ppt on visual design and this was the book that helped me structure my slide deck.

Basic concepts, not a lot of new info
The book is high-quality in terms of print and information shape and organization. However, it describes extremly basic concepts, most of which as an educated adult you should already know about...

A good reference
Beautiful book, well structured and with good examples of the fundamentals of design. The book uses simple shapes such as cubes, circles and lines in a way that is pleasing to the eye and can be very useful for the design student or for experienced professionals who want a quick reference on visual elements.

Bon livre de reference (en anglais)
Tres utile pour les debutants (Theory/Elements et Principes d/art), mais aussi utile pour les habitués ou une remise a niveau. Lecture/Images: succinct/pas compliqué

One page on each individual technique of layout. Concise, maybe too concise, but for an amateur arranger like myself a pretty good resource.

Senza fronzoli, completo e diritto la punto
Davvero un libro utile per chi voglia avere a portata di mano gli elementi fondamentali della grammatica visiva.Niente fronzoli, diritti al punto.

If you are a design student, you must own this.
This is a must-have for anyone studying design. This book is as simple as a child's, yet it successfully relays concepts that I paid $7000 to learn over the course of two semesters. Contained in this book are the fundamentals from which ALL design stems. I cannot even put into words how succinctly elegant it is. Even if it is not required reading, buy it alongside your textbook. I guarantee that you will find yourself referencing this volume when your textbook becomes too convoluted. The way you view this book will change as you learn and grow. At first, its contents will seem childishly simple; then, as you grasp what design really involves, they will seem mind-blowingly complex. At your peak, you will see that it is a beautiful union of the two. I cannot recommend this book enough. If you are a designer, it belongs in your home.
