Difficult as a boot knife, but nice piece nonetheless
The Edge Technology Engineering ETEK1604 ETE DATU 3.0" Neck Belt Boot Knife with Sheath is a great little knife with one problem... it's not very useful as either a belt knife or a boot knife.Consider wearing it on your belt. While sheathed, the top of the clip is 2.5 inches from the bottom while the top edge of the handle is 7.5 inches from the bottom. That means there is 5 inches (7.5" - 2.5" = 5") above the belt line. So the only reasonable place to wear this would be on your back, otherwise it will interfere with the natural movements of the body. But if placed in the middle of the back, the handle will be disoriented to your right hand.Don't expect to unsheathe the knife while it is clipped on your belt in the back either. The knife is in the sheath with a solid click. It requires your thumb's counter force pressed down on the sheath to eject it. Your hand will be in no such position while reaching behind your back, so you'll pull the entire sheathe off your belt while drawing, potentially damaging your belt in the process. Only then can you unsheathe it. So this is probably not an astute warrior's first choice when choosing a concealed carry self defense weapon. And the boot suffers a similar problem. Not only is the clip low, the weight is unevenly distributed high. So you have a top heavy knife sticking way out of the top of your boot. Even moderate action will cause the knife to slide and shift, so wearing this knife on your boot is really unreasonable. So your left with a pretty high quality knife though. Maybe stick it your pocket, or wear it around your neck while hiking through the wilderness. The cord is of nice quality and threads through the handle in an appropriate place. For everyday concealed carry though, this isn't going to cut it. Recommended for compact wilderness survival, but with reservations for concealed carry.

Great fixed blade knife
This is a really well designed and well generally well made knife. Razor sharp out of the box. Be very careful opening it because its kind of difficult to dislodge it from the clamshell packaging. I have several fixed blade knives and this one is easily the best in terms of feel and ergonomics, feels great in my hands and looks great too. While the design/ergonomics and materials of this knife are excellent, there do seem to be a few small quality control issues in the finishing process and perhaps with the sheath construction. The knife I received was pretty much perfect except there was a small inclusion on one side of the blade, it looks like it was machine sharpened and it slipped a bit near the base. While it doesn't really affect the function of the knife much, it is somewhat annoying since D2 steel is not all that easy to sharpen especially on a curved blade like this. There is a one year warranty on this knife so I'm sure I could send it in and have them fix it but that seems like more of a hassle than just sharpening it myself. The kydex sheath is very nice looking and holds the knife very securely.. perhaps a little too securely. Mine is quite hard to remove from the sheath, it definitely couldn't be used on a boot because the clip will pull off the boot before the knife releases. I have to hold my thumb at the top of the sheath and and apply pressure while wiggling the sheath slightly with my other hand to get it to release..I tried adjusting the sheath tension by loosening the little bolts around the clip slightly but I couldn't find a good spot, it was always either too loose or too tight. I'm hoping that with time and a bit of use it will loosen up a bit and have a nice release tension.I note that another reviewer mentioned that his sheath didn't hold the knife securely, so it seems they may have some QC issues with the sheath. Despite these minor issues this is a very well designed and overall well made knife for the price and I would recommend it.

Well made, super sharp out of the package
The package calls the included paracord a "necklace," but we manly he-man masculine guy types prefer "lanyard," amirite guys?Seriously, this is a well made, full tang knife, and like a lot of high grade knives it arrives super sharp -- shaving sharp, paper-slicing sharp -- right out of the package. I got a little knick opening the package, but I'm not sure if it was the blade or the clamshell packaging. I just recommend taking it easy opening it and mind your fingers. The Kydex sheath is molded and shaped well and the knife fits snugly in it. The sheath has a robust belt clip (which is removeable). I'm not a big fan of Kydex sheaths, but in this case I think it's a good choice for a knife meant to be worn from the neck or carried as a boot knife. The extra protection of Kydex and the rivets in the sheath seems to me to be a good idea.As far as dangling it from your neck, though, the sheath is just a friction fit for the knife, and as you see in the product photos the lanyard is just attached to the end of the sheath. A few good shakes and the knife might just work loose and drop out. I'd suggest coming up with an alternate way to rig the lanyard (or a longer one) that will secure the knife in the sheath no matter how you carry it.The knife has a good comfortable feel in the hand, the grip feels secure, it has some nice heft at two ounces, and the tang is thick and sturdy and runs the full length of the grip. Specs on the steel and hardness are impressive. The edge is hollow ground and the black finish looks good. Overall length is over 6 inches and the blade is 3 inches.
