Cyberlink PowerDirector 14 Ultra

I am just a casual producer of my children's cute antics. I admit this program can do way more than I ask it to. I love what it does.It is easy to adjust to making videos compared to other programs. I used on by Sony before this one. Menus can be as simple or complicated as you want. Menus and themes are available for free download from their site.There are help features and a tutorial available. Me, I just click on stuff to see what happens. I don't know the fancy names of the editing features.Makes Blu-Ray videos in a timely fashion. I burned a 1.5 hour video in about 4 hours.

I cant capture my desktop but Im not sure if its just my computer or what. I had to uninstall this program and reinstall to get it to recognize myLogitech HD Pro Webcam C920

Eh? Not great, not bad ether. This is your basic beginners program with a few upgrades. It's nice if your just learning. But it wasn't what I was looking for.

I gave this one star because I could not choose a minus number. This program is a complete piece of junk. Totally useless. If you try to add any effects, even as simple as adjust the clip volume, the program freezes. It freezes about every 2 minutes, and it is extremely frustrating. Save your money and buy something else, anything else.

I can't edit a HD camera video and keep in the same format, it converts to a proprietary format associated with PowerDirector which is of no use to me, that said and to be fair I have no yet contacted Cyberlink for any helpful technical support yet.

Cyberlink PowerDirector is a fantastic editing software. There is soo much you can do, with this Editing software. And it is simple to use if you know how to navigate to you're CPU.I was going to get the new PowerPoint 15 edition but, decided to get the year old PowerPoint 14 edition and it was only $ 41 dollars. A lot cheaper from last year. It still practically does the same thing except it doesn't have the 360 view. Other than that. I'm totally satisfied with my purchase I can now make YouTube video easiler now. Side note. Please stay the hell alway from Windows Movie Maker. That editing software is hideous. It's only good if you at the very, very beginning and you just one a basic video.

PowerDirector 14 Ultra is a powerful editor for the price... as implied by the name. I made light usage of video editors over the years, and each time I start using a new product there is quite a bit of a learning curve for me... remembering terms, figuring out the navigation approach, and so on. That is no different with the PowerDirector product.Once it clicks that just under the top menus, the Capture/Edit/Produce/Create Disc are the main navigation points, then the rest starts to flow into place. This is not exactly intuitive given the color schemes on the full screen editor. One thing I particularly do not like is that if I accidentally click on "Capture", I am stuck in a 30 second waiting loop while the system detects devices. Cyberlink does a good job of providing most of the icons with mouse-over descriptions. Especially helpful while learning all of the different symbols.I tested this software with a current project of editing some old silent 8mm family films that were captured to DVD in a horrendous menu. The biggest challenge with a product like PowerDirector is learning the basics. I know something can be done, but am not sure the steps to take to do this. Add the challenge of mental focus as well... while I'm discovering how to export to file or create a menu, I am seeing all these other things that I wonder what they are and then... boom... down another rabbit hole I go.While I could figure out how to do things, it took some poking and prodding to figure things out. I would call the user interface nice, but not stunning. I could find things, but they didn't always leap out at me, or certain functions didn't activate to be visual until clicking on a track and so on.PowerDirector provides a lot of tools and features very nice feature I haven't even scratched the surface of. One feature I was very appreciative of was the fix/enhance feature, under that I used the video stabilize to help smooth out some hand held jittery videos. I expect over time I will discover more amazing features as needs arrive.Overall, this is a very solid and powerful product that I am happy to own. When small projects pop up I will not be scrounging around for a video tool.

The program doesn't seem to be optimized for any videos above 59 fps, if it is, it's not easy to figure out how to use it

I recently bought a GoPro camera & first tried using the free GoPro studio program for editing. I experienced constant freezes, lockups & system crashes on my Win 7 computer with GoPro studio. It was virtually unusable for all but the simplest video editing. While I love the camera, GoPro should cease offering their free editing software until they get it right because in my view it damages their brand.I downloaded the trial version before purchasing Power Director to make sure it was suitable & was blown away by all its features. I also tried the trial version of Adobe Premier Elements because I read good reviews but it would not start up on my computer.I bought the DVD version of Power Director instead of downloading the software. I paid a little more but I always like have the disk in my possession (personal preference).I have been using Power Director for about a month & have not had a single system issue: hang, crash etc. It has so many features that for a novice film editor like me there is a bit of a learning curve but I'm willing to invest the time knowing that the software is solid & won't waste my time. The program is good but the two week free trial programs are week I could not install them properly and had an awful time removing them. (I will never ever try to install them again)
