Kind of Blue remains one of the most iconic and influential jazz albums of all time. In his autobiography, Miles discussed his intentions for this unique body of compositions and the conditions in which it was recorded: I found a new piano player in February [1959]; his name was Wynton Kelly. There was another piano player that I liked and his name was Joe Zawinul (he would play with me later). But it was Wynton who came into the band. Wynton was from the West Indies, from Jamaica, and had played with Dizzy for a minute. I loved the way Wynton played, because he was a combination of Red Garland and Bill Evans; he could play almost anything. Plus, he could play behind a soloist like a motherfucker, man. Cannonball and Trane loved him, and so did I. Wynton joined us just before I was going into the studio to make Kind of Blue, but I had already planned that album around the piano playing of Bill Evans, who had agreed to play on it with us. We went into the studio to record Kind of Blue on the first or second day of March 1959. We had the sextet of Trane, Jimmy Cobb, Paul, Cannonball, myself, and Wynton Kelly, but he played on only one tune: Freddie Freeloader. That song was named after this black guy I knew who was always seeing what he could get from you free, and he was always around the jazz scene. Bill Evans played on the rest of the tunes. We made Kind of Blue at two recording sessions one in March and the other one in April.

This record is wonderful!
This Original Master Rerecording of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue, from the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, is wonderful. I own the original recording of this masterpiece from Columbia Records and a CD of same. The sound quality on this recording has a very rich warm buttery sound. The bass, horns, drums, cymbals have a sonorous timbre which is pleasing to me. Both of the disks are pressed into 180 gram Hi-Definition Vinyl. In my opinion, this allows for much more musical information to be pressed into these record's grooves, and therefore, the sound is much better than the other iterations of this masterpiece I own. I highly recommend this product.

Great album, different cover
Awesome pressing of an iconic album! The art, while still from the same photographer, is not the image in the description.

What a treat for the ears
Such a terriffic recording. Physical quality of the album is fantastic. Auditory quality is sublime. Personally, it transports me far away from the chaos of life.

Poor vinyl, great mastering.
I thought this version sounded great, but I've had two copies with flaws in the vinyl.Unacceptable for a 60 dollar record. I recommend looking elsewhere. I just don't know where.

Vamos, es un MOFI!!
Sonido detallado, la trompeta nunca distorsiona a diferencia de la version SACD. El bajo es presente. La caja y material es de primera!!

Typical MoFi quality
A reasonably quiet, high-quality pressing with excellent sonics.

Received with box unwrapped and open. First disc replaced with The Cars' "Shake It Up"!! What's up with that? Returned!

Superb sounding version of a classic album.
This refers to the 2015 Mobile Fidelity 2-disc box set of "Kind of Blue".The album doesn't need reviewing as far as musical content is concerned, since it's unlikely that anyone will opt for this box-set as their first copy of one of the all-time classic and best-selling jazz recordings, so I'll just stick to the records and how they 'sound'.Pressings are excellent - virtually flat, almost silent surfaces; Disc 1 of my set is ever-so-slightly eccentric but not enough to make any appreciable difference to the sound. 180g vinyl at it's best.Sonically all I can say is 'superb'. Compared to the 1997 Sony Legacy CD re-master [excellent as that is to my ears] the most immediate difference that I noticed was that the individual instruments seem to 'hang in the air' even further out of the speakers on ths vinyl version, although perhaps there's also a touch more tape-hiss audible than on the CD version. If you're going to buy this vinyl version, just remember that the original single album is split into two 45 rpm discs - so make sure that your turntable is still able to play 45's - and that this particular format really will need a good arm/cartridge combination to track those high-speed grooves! And that just leaves two very minor 'niggles': the first is that the split into 2 x 45's is the price of achieving this sort of sound from vinyl; personally I might have settled for a slightly-less-'perfect' mastering onto a single 33 rpm album as per the original issue. The second is that [untypically for MoFi ] there's not really any information about the recording/re-mastering/pressing process inside the box. Yes, the enclosed booklet has some superb large photos from the recording session, and a facsimile of the original album liner-notes, but at the price charged [~£55] for what is a 'luxury' box set, it would have been nice to have had a bit more information about how the re-mastering was done.

Original master recording doppio a 45 giri
