Works well! It adapted easy to my hang on back filter making it safer for shrimp! Hope to get a sponge soon too!

I used to have a sponge filter but it slows the water flow, which then lead to a disastrous algae bloom. I had to scrub off all the algae by hand. The mesh filter doesn't slow the water filtration and it keeps baby shrimp safe from getting sucked into the intake. This product is a must-own if you have fry and small crustaceans in your tank. It also looks cool too, and the shrimp love to scavenge food from it.

I can confirm that this is not 100% stainless as a magnet will hold to it. This means that if you put in a tank there is a good chance metal will leach out into the water and harm fish and/or corals. I'm not sure what exactly is in the metal but I can say that its not stainless and only stainless should go in your tank.

I purchased this because another reviewer said it fit the AquaClear 110. However it only fits the graduated portion of the intake tube. Even without the rubber gasket, the hole (18 mm internal diameter) is too small for the main part of the intake tube (27 mm). But the item appears as described. It is made of a fine wire mesh to easily bent. The metal edges are sharp and may cut. The internal diameter of the flexible rubber gasket is 14 mm but can stretch to about 18 mm.

Did not fit my AC 50 with or without the black ring. I hot glued it to my filter intake but its still a good product. Just didn’t fit my filter

Was having a difficult time getting this onto the intake tube of my Aquaclear 50 until I got the brilliant idea to run the gasket under hot water for a few seconds. The pre-filter is working great for my shrimp tank.

Love it! Does the job. Would buy again.
