Great Basket
Great basket! Just what I needed. I find that the fires are hotter now. The basket seems to provide more circulation around the fire which is causing it to burn hotter.

Very study. Better charcoal burns.
Less variability in my charcoal burns with this. Because the basket enables better airflow from under the charcoal, I get a more even burn and am better able to just use the damper slider on the bottom and damper on the chimney to control the temperature. If I want to long slow burn, I can fill this basket up pretty much and then just light in the center of it.... get it going and then restrict the air flow. I have much better luck with lump charcoal. Don't use briquettes in your Kamado grill.

Makes lighting SO much easier
I’ve had the Kamado Big Joe for nearly 2 years and have used it without a basket.Having the basket allows for a better grilling experience. I can not stress enough how much easier it is to light your lump charcoal. I use the natural fire starters and the airflow just beneath the baskets allows for better lighting. I believe it also helps with maintaining a more consistent targeted temperature. When I want to grill for just a couple people, having the divider allow me to load up only one side of the grill and conserve charcoal.Don’t be stubborn like me and just buy it! You won’t be disappointed.

The basket is really nice. Very thick stainless steel and it does improve the airflow for sure. But price is really absurd. I don't regret the purchase but still I think it's 30-40% overpriced.Heat deflectors need to rest on the basket itself it's pretty clear. Don't know why others complain about it. It's different then without the basket. But it does work as advertised

Fit my 1st generation Kamado Big Joe without issues
This if for those early KBJ adopters to let them know that this fits without any issues. If you have a 1st generation KBJ (one piece firebox), this is definitely an accessory you need to get. Really improves the airflow and allows to heat up my coals slight quicker than with the old setup. Worth picking up when the price is reduced. I didn't have any clearance issues with the original D&C (Divide & Conquer) setup. The D&C rack can fit with the basket hooked or unhooked. The other advantage was having the charcoal divider fit in 2 directions in the basket. The Gen 1 KBJ's factory ceramic divider only fit one way which didn't work well with Joetisserie cooks. Love this basket!
