The Velcro around the neck keeps it in place in one direction and the loop over the ear keeps it in place in the other direction. The valves make exhaling easy and help keep the fog from glasses. Only problem with those valves is that they don’t do anything to protect others from whatever particulate you might be spewing out. There is no filter on the output valves. Until Now!I have taken a spare filter and cut little discs out of it. Using a nickel as a template, I made little filters that fit snugly on the inside of those valves and they have had very little impact on the efficiency of the mask. If you decide to do the same, let me suggest you cut your circles along a seam so the layers will stay together.I like this mask enough to have ordered another one.
