Good Product
I've only had this pump for about a week, I hope it continues to work as well as it has been. There was no set up. It worked right out of the box. It came on as I was walking to my bird bathto put it in. The pump did stop on me one time after I changed the tip. I followed all the instructionsbut the water would not start pumping again. So I let it sit and waited to see if it came on thenext morning as the instructions said it would do - and sure enough, the next morning it waspumping. The battery does work in cloudy weather. After a while of no sun the stream won'tbe as strong, but that's to be expected. I love this product so much. I hope the birds will soonlove it also.

Great product
I decided to use this a few weeks before writing this review to make sure it's performance was consistent. So far, so good. The first time you put it in your fountain, it takes awhile to work properly until it gets fully charged. It will only produce intermittent spurts of water for about 3 hours. But after that, it works great. After the first day when the battery has been fully charged on a sunny day, this little fountain will stay working even on a very cloudy day! It also keeps working until just about sunset! I have found that on a windy day, I have to remove the spray nozzle because it loses a lot of water in the wind. I empty my birdbath every morning to rinse it out from the mess the birds leave in it & fill it with fresh water & it's important to do this without the pump running, so I take out the pump at night or first thing before the sun comes up & turn it upside down. Trust me, this thing needs very little light before it starts working! Great product for the price!

Have to keep restarting/rebooting it
So I purchased this really cool item. I put it in my little Gnome garden bird bath. It works when it wants to. I have to restart/reboot it almost every day. Sometimes a couple of times a day. It comes with a suction cup bottom so you can attach it to the bottom of your bird bath if you don’t like it to just float around. There must be a small tube missing because if you use the suction cups, there is no way to suck the water up and make a fountain. So I had to keep it in “float’ mode. I am very disappointed! It was a cool thing to add to my little Gnome garden. So it is wrapped up in a towel in my shed. I can’t use it. I am not sure what I can do with it. I can’t keep restarting/rebooting it off and on during the day.So if anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Just the thing for our fish pond in a planter
Wanted to make a low-budget fish pond/fountain in our small front courtyard. Bought a planter pot which holds about 60 gallons of water, got some rocks and some minnows and gold fish and some floating pond plants! All is lovely, but the fountain part was missing and I wanted to make sure the fish had some oxygen. I didn't want to have to run electrical of any sort... introduce this perfect floating solar fountain! We are in So Cal, so get lots of sun on our patio and it runs the entire time - but even on the most overcast day (today was a misty rain this morning), it still operates, though a little less water flow. I expected it to need much more direct sun to operate, but it just needs light for minimal operation, and any amount of sunshine for full fountain!!We tried all the various fountain style nibs that they provide, and they are all fantastic - some higher than other, some spray more fancy, but the one we went with is the yellow 'flower' shaped one that more sends the water outward a few inches, rather than high, so that we aerate the water, get a nice sound, but don't have water splashing out of the planter when the wind blows a little. All of them are lovely though depending on what your needs are - to be honest, I wish we could use the ones that actually spray up more. Using no nib, you get more of an almost silent burble, so if you just need water movement to dissuade larvae, that may work for you.Increadible simple solution. And also provides some shade for our Fish!

One star because it works occasionally
The media could not be loaded. This is the second one the company sent because the first also stopped working after only two days. The replacement also started to quit after about one week. It will be a completely sunny day, the solar panels are perfectly exposed to the sun, the underneath is clean as a whistle, and the water is clean. But this thing will NOT WORK! I have had several of these type of solar fountains over the last five years. I paid almost twice as much for this one compared to others I’ve had. I thought it would be worth it since it claims to have a function where it will cease if the water level drops. That function has never worked on this. If you decide on one of these, buy a less expensive one. They will not last anyway, so save a few bucks. This company needs to remove the claims of some the functions of this fountain because they do not exist.

NO BATTERY BACKUP AS ADVERTISED
This is supposed to have a battery backup so it will work if it is not in full sun or if it gets cloudy. NOT TRUE!!! Will not power up unless in complete sun. Stops working immediately if it drifts into even a tiny spot of shade. Had it in a fountain which was almost full sun with a little area of shade (quarter sized) and it will not work. Works in the middle of the pool but has no battery backup. If a cloud goes over, it shuts off immediately. Very deceptive advertising as I specifically purchased this one because it claimed to have batty back up. Back to amazon it goes.
