Not impressed. Far from OEM Quality.
Figured this was a good deal, o-rings are thick, filter pleats looked good, but until you actually compare to an OEM Motorcraft Fuel Filter (FD4615). This is the first time i ever ordered an aftermarket (Made in China) Fuel filter and I'm not impressed. I knew something was weird when you can hear the filter rattle from the inside of the box. I've owned a few of these 11-16 Powerstrokes over the years and have done countless fuel filter changes with Motorcraft Filters, usually once a month while I do an oil change. And I've never heard any kind of noise from the inside of the Motorcraft filters. Upon inspection, the inner filter on all 4 filters from AFE are loose and don't make complete contact with the inner bowl, if that makes sense. The OEM Motorcraft filter makes complete contact and you can not see any separation from the inside. With the AFE Filter you can see light basically from the other side when you look inside the actual filter.. Then you notice the actual quality of the inside of the inner filter. Its significantly, to my eyes, much more of a coarse inner filter compared to OEM. You can see through it. Not sure if this makes a big difference. But concerning... especially when you notice how horrible the inner filter is actually applied. Very un-even, very loose, and in other words "Made in China" so clearly just some rebranded cheap fuel filters- Also, they seem to be a bit dusty for some reason. Ive never had this problem before, even the OEM filter i have that's been outside of the box and thrown around isn't even close to being as dusty than the AFE. With how sensitive these fuel systems are with the 6.7 Powerstrokes, this filter is not worth risking. I would not recommend. My brothers who converted to an H&S Fuel Filter in the engine bay and are using these to pair up to "save money" I suggest to bite the bullet and still go with Motorcraft Filters. Imagine trying to save a few bucks and it ends up costing you a few injectors or something. Keep in mind the OEM Motorcraft fuel filters are rated to 5 micron; Absolute. I will most likely return these. Not confident with build quality.Edit; I included 2 pictures to show the difference. The first one is OEM. The second one, is AFE. I’ll let you guys decide.
