It works well for its intended purpose
It's not a 100mm 2.8 L macro lens, but then it didn't cost $1000 either. I bought this to add to a travel camera kit I was putting together. Attached to an Olympus 45mm 1.8 lens I am able to get noticeably closer focus, and surprisingly it turns pretty decent images. If you are planning to shoot a lot of true macro then you probably should pony up the money, and buy a dedicated macro lens. If you simply need the ability to get closer for the odd occasional "macro-ish" shot should do quite nicely.Pros:can render reasonably sharp close up imagesInexpensive when compared to the cost of a true macro lensdoesn't take up quite as much room in a camera bag as true macro lensCons:not as good as a true macro lensthe bayonet attachment is a bit funky (at least when attached to the Oly 45mm 1.8 lens)construction is definitely on the plasticky side (if you are working on a super light weight kit, this might be a plus)All in all I am very happy with it, and glad to have it.

Seems like a good idea but...
This product seems like a good idea, however:It is very difficult to use this on a close-up subject and have any idea what the picture will be like with the screen - a viewfinder is needed and this light take up that spot. The arms are easy to move, in fact too easy. They will often not stay in position if they camera is moved forcing one to keep a hand free to adjust. At least the MAL Arm lights are not too expensive - but you get what you pay for.

Arm Light is unique lighting solution.
Okay, it's not a ring light like we are all used to seeing. It's not supposed to be. It allows one to vary the angle and distance of the light source, allows for 2 power levels of light, with individual controls for each arm. One loses use of the adapter port, it's true, but I haven't had any problems using the LCD viewer. If this device doesn't suit your needs, buy a ring light, but personally I think this is much more flexible. Nothing special, over priced.

It is OK, good for price
It works to let the (specified) lenses make OK macro shots - nothing as good as a dedicated lens, but much cheaper, smaller, and weighs next to nothing (nice addition for the camera bag, at least if you have the 14-150, not as useful on the kit lens). Depending on the lens, can attach to the bayonet attachment (kit lens) or filter ring (onthe M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm, where it works better than the kit lens). Unlike the similar WCON-P01 Wide Angle Converter, this bayonet mount actually worked (secure fit).Note - for some reason, some of the reviews here are actually for the MAL-1 Macro Arm Light, and some of the reviews there are for this! This can extend to ordering the products also - when I ordered the MCON-P01 (amazon directly) and the MAL-1 (from an amazon "partner" camera site", I got MCONs from BOTH of them and no light! (eventually straightend out the products - but the reviews are still mixed up on both).

A toy lens
Pretty suspect build quality but it does the job. I use it on the 45mm 1.8 but it really only functions as a macro on the 40-150.

Granddaughter loves it!
I got this for my granddaughter's 16th birthday gift. She loves photography and requested it. When she opened it, we had to finally get her to check out her other presents as she was thrilled to have this one where she can take macro pictures. Fit her Olympus with no problems! Grandma was a hit again!!! :)

You will be disappointed if you are looking for true macro photography.
It sort of works. I mean, if you are using Zuiko 14-42mm lens, you won't see vast improvement after you attach the Macro converter. If you really love macro, super close-up photography, you will need to invest in the good macro lens. This converter gives you just a tiny improvement on minimal focal length but that's it.

excellent product
Excellent product. Team it up with the 45mm f1.8 for stunning results! Goes well with the kit lens as well.
