Sashiko for Beginners: An Inspirational Guide to Japanese Quilting (Creative Art for Beginners Book 4) Kindle Edition

I am a visual learner and like some other Kindle instruction books I have purchased this one has too small of illustrations to see. Come on Amazon!! Do a better job of preparing the books that have illustrations that need to be seen. And, yes I am using my computer not the little Kindle. Looking inside does no good when the first 50 pages are text only and down loading a sample does not work when all it shows you is the table of contents. Not happy.

I have tremors. Because of that, there is no way I could do this form of quilting. I do however have a long history of hand crafts. So I bought this book to see what this new skill was. It's not a new skill it's an ancient skill, just one new to me. I found the book quite fascinating and vastly informative. I enjoyed reading it. Without putting in the effort, I have no way of knowing if I could have learned the art from reading the book. But it is impressive.

ME gustó mucho la forma tan sencilla para explicar esta técnica de bordado, indudablemente me ha servido para dar gran belleza a los acabados de mis prendas personales. Recomiendo a las personas que aman el Sashiko se aprende lo esencial y nos guia a seguir avanzando.

Not as advertised. No lessons just samples

Not as detailed as I thought it would be.

I held high hopes for this book but what I got was pages of information on making and sewing projects without a photo in sight. There were some examples of pattern but tiny. No templates, blank pages and lots of writing even on sewing sashiko on a machine which went on for chapters.I dislike given bad reviews but this book deserves it, how it was published I will not understand.

I have read a few of this author's other beginner crafting books, and I thought they were well done. Unfortunately, I do not find this book to be as well done as those. I thought there should be more pictures at the beginning of the book so a quilter or crafter unfamiliar with the specifics of sashiko could at a glance understand what precisely this form of quilting and embroidery is. I also thought that the introduction and the first two chapters were a bit repetitive, which wasn't a problem in the other books. The author repeated herself, sometimes verbatim, in describing what sashiko is and recounting some of its history. I do not feel that the author gave enough information about how to work on the projects that are in the book, especially as they increase in difficulty. The book is supposed to be for beginners, so extra explanation is needed, especially as the difficulty level goes up. The book is logically organized, covering rudimentary information like materials needed and basic technique early on before getting into more advanced specifics like having a dedicated sashiko sewing machine. All in all, I was a little disappointed by this book for the reasons mentioned above, but if this is a form of crafting that interests you, you may enjoy the background and projects in this book.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

The Illustrations are far too small to see to be of any use and the second half of the book tells you how to use the Sashiko sewing machine.

New to quilting. Ambition for the future. Informative.

Não é um guia para iniciantes em Sashiko e sim para quem já tem conhecimento em Quilt e Patchwork se aventurar em utilizar os padrões clássicos do Sashiko.É mais um manual de quilt e patchword.Pouquíssimos padrões tradicionais de Sashiko para quem quer aprender a bordar Sashiko à mão. Aliás, mais da metade do livro só com instruções de como montar quilts e patchwork e uso de máquina de costura. Tradicionalmente Sashiko é bordado à mão e não à máquina!Não ensina a desenhar os padrões de Sashiko, transferir p/ o tecido, as regras de pontos de alinhavo...enfim....me decepcionou!

Zu viel Text, zu wenige Fotos, die nur in schwarzweiss gehalten sind. Keine Inspiration. Buch wirkt wie zusammengetackerte Kopien. Bin sehr enttäuscht. Kommt in der Stadt in einen Spenden-Bücherschrank.
