Genius Games1201 - Telsa vs Edison Duel Strategy Card Game - For 2 Players aged 14 or Over with a Playtime of 15-30 Minutes - Educational and Fun - Who Will Win the War of the Currents

Our family of 5 (parents and 17, 15 and 9 year old) all enjoy this game. I think it might get old after awhile, as i'm not sure how much we can really adjust our strategy, but after playing about a dozen times we still enjoy it.

I got this game on same for $10. We watched the movie, War of Currents prior to playing to get into the theme with Benedict Cumberbatch.I would recommend watching a movie if you have a hard time getting into the theme.I like that the game has thematic elements - like scoring of locations always starts on the East Coast. The game is about providing electricity (DC or AC) to 3 different regions, but also buying stock and gaining notoriety.There are different ways to win - by fulfilling the end goal objective for your character or by having the most control in the three regions.I also like that the game is small and doesn’t take up too much space when set up, but I wish that the cards were full-sized. I deduct one star because the game would have been more if each card had some flavor text or information regarding each person. The designer says in the rulebook that he learned a lot while doing research for the game - but none of that is apparent in the game. The historical characters could literally be replaced with Muppet characters and it would make as much thematic sense. They could at least include little blurbs about each person in the rulebook.Something in the rulebook was a little confusing - mostly I think there could have been more images and labels. Bolding some key info lost in the middle of a paragraph could have been nice.I wished the symbols were named in the rulebook. We ended up saying light bulb, generator, and knob thing.The designer may have had issues in the past so if that could potentially affect your decision you might want to look that up yourself. It doesn’t affect game play but if I had known prior I might have skipped this game.The game is OK. I wouldn’t call it fun like a laughing good time, but it’s a short, mild strategy game with area control, tracks, and stocks with a Tesla/Edison theme.

A fun quick(er), more fast past version of the original full game. They did a good job of not only carrying over the theme but also being able to incorporate some the game play into a 2 player take all verison.
